RT shocks + swaybar opinion / help

Hi guys,
I do have question as usual:p
I want to order front shocks for my friends on their RT 2015 models, they are Wilbers shocks and I am happy how they do behave with my F3s.
Now they dealer is asking me, what is the size-or better say how long are telescopes on stock front shocks. are they 475 or 485mm...

Have you been replacing the front shocks? do you know this length?
And maybe related question - What about BajaRon sway-bar? is it the same improvement when replacing it for stock on RT models as on mine F3? F3 with Bajaron is like to have power steering wheel :ohyea:
thanx Guys..

Martin

YOUR QUESTION

Hi Martin, since I don't know what you know about suspensions ....... I'm just throwing this out.... Shocks/springs etc. don't have the same effect on the suspension as a Sway bar does....... If decide to change either or both .... do them separately, so you can compare the difference !!!! ..... I went a completely different route on my 1330 Frame .... I changed the ANGLE 16* ( positive ) on the front shock/spring which increased the efficiency of the OEM units approx. 19% FIRMER. I didn't change my Sway bar, I'm not sure I need to at this point.............Good Luck, .........Mike

Agree...

:agree: Do things one step at a time... Start with a good alignment, then I would go with the sway bar and see if this may be all you need. Then you can go with the shocks. I have the relocators on my shocks like Mike and I then went with the Fox podium shocks. The wilbers are a good shock and I am surprised they don't have the data to get you the right ones...Race Tech and Elkas usually like to get your weight and ryding conditions to set them up for you....

Guys thank you. I did it one by one on my F3s. first I did Swaybar but because I am heavy I had to replace the front and rear shocks.
the thing is, first def. I will replace the shocks for my friends. Both are quite a big guys +/- 300 pounds :) so RT with stock shocks is suffering :)))

wilbers dont really sell here in Europe too many shocks for RT. in general Europe is not a huge market for BRP products..
but thanx for advice..

will keep looking for the length of those telescopes

I think that the Wilbers people are probably asking for the length of travel and eye to eye distance. Both are easily obtained by you. Simply jack up one wheel off the ground and measure the distance from the center of the mounting bolt to bolt distance on the shock (A). Then measure the length of the chrome rod (B). Be sure to ignore the bump stop (Located under the (B) in this picture but probably slid to the bottom of the chrome rod on your shock). This should give Wilbers what they need to know about shock dimensions. But I am surprised they are not asking about a weight component to determine which spring you need.

Thank you Bajaron for great explanation! thanx a lot. they did ask us about the weight, its all OKie, but its strange that they dont know what dimensions the front telescopes has..
