There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. RT Seat size change, what year did it happen?

Just wondered if anyone knows what year the Spyder RT Limited changed the passenger seat length? We did a test ride on a newer model before we bought our first RTL. When we tried out the older models, we found that the passenger seat was shorter in length, front to back. Does anyone know what year that change was made? We are considering getting a newer one now and wondered about that change. Thanks.

Any idea what year was that 'newer model RT' you tried before you bought your first RTL was? And are you sure you weren't trying out an earlier RT with the 'Optional Comfort Seat'?? :dontknow:

All the RT's from 2010 until 2019 had basically the same standard 1-piece Rider/Pillion seat base; the change to the 2-piece seats came with the extensive model changes that occurred with the 2020 models. However, there were optional 'Comfort Seats' available for those earlier models that gave the Rider an extra 2" of room at the expense of the Pillion Passenger. There are pics on the Forum of the visible differences in the 'lumbar support hump' behind the Rider if you search on 'Comfort Seat'.

The one we did the test ride on would have been either a 2020 or 2021. I must admit, since it was the first time on a Spyder of any sort, it could have very well had the "comfort seat". I just know that any of the ones we considered after that which were in the 2010-2012 range, had a much smaller passenger seat. Thanks for all your info!

Necro thread... sorry.

If a 2014 RT seat will fit an earlier RSS that should mean it should fit an older GS as well.

Am I right?

I don't believe that any of the RT seats will fit on a GS or an RS... :dontknow:

Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong, but IIRC they have a different shape at the back (the RT Pillion seat is somewhat wider, especially at the back, than the GS/RS seat &/or body  ) and again IIRC, the mounts don't match up - but it has been a minute or two since I last paid much attention to a GS/RS seat! :opps:

But you are right in that any seat that'll fit an RS will fit a GS.

:agree: RT is shaped & sized differently, For position & ergonomics. Might look at the ST (& STS, STL.) tho, very similar to RS. Also maybe call Motorcycle Dave, a vendor on the home page who offers gel & heat pads. He would probably know more specifics about the seats & what works. :2thumbs:

Mod Edit: Not sure that the Home Page links still all work now, as from 1 July the Forum is moving away from having 'sponsors' as such any more... So here's a link to Motorcycle Dave:
