There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. RT Cruise Control Problem.

Hi Guys n Gals... I have a 2012 RT 998. Im pretty sure my cruise control worked fine last time I used it [last year] .. so today when I tried it [doing around 60mph] as I pressed set, the green set light flashed on and went off again and it didn't set. It did this every time I tried to set it. Turned cruise on and off but same result. If I held the button in the resume position then it would set a constant speed.. but to set another speed I had to turn the cruise on and off again otherwise it just resumed at the previous speed... any ideas? Have cleaned the switch with contact cleaner etc all looks well.

How's the return spring on you brake peddle? If it was getting weak it could be getting into the switch that shuts it off! Just a idea to throw out there! good luck

Hi .. thanks for the replies.. checked the brake pedal and switch and all seem fine... pedal returns as it should. I'll keep looking.

How fast were you going Curlytops?? And what gear were you in?? The cruise control won't set if your Revs/Road Speed aren't fast enough for the ECU.... on the SE's, you need to be above about 3200 rpm & doing a reasonable pace, altho I'm not sure if it's actually a 'speed setting' or a revs/throttle opening setting that governs it. :dontknow:

Regardless, if you were in saaay, 4th gear & only doing 25 mph, your revs were probably too low for the various settings so cruise wouldn't stay on. It'll also drop out if you gradually slow down below it's set parameters. And just like the 'fail-safe downshift' on the SE's, it's all designed to keep the clutch engaged, the engine & driveline from lugging, & you honest!

:agree: May not been in right gear or grazing the brake peddle. However if were grazing the brake you would have gone to limp mode in short distance. Look if any codes are lurking unseen, double check battery connections, find a clear road where you methodically test again without traffic distraction. Hopefully is resolved.

You might check your owners manual and see if cleaning the area around the brake switch is a scheduled maintenance task as it is listed in the 2014 manual.

Each time our 14 RTS has encountered issues with the cruise control no setting, I simply use regulated clean compressed air and carefully blow away accumulated debris from the brake switch area. Very simple task. Takes only a minute and has worked to restore the cruise control back to operating normally.

Thanks for the answers.. I had a look at all your cleaning suggestions and all was well... I was cruising on the motorway here in England at 75 UK mph and it set twice out of around 10 attempts so I reckon it could be a switch problem.. Its no big deal but if something is on my spyder I like it to work even if I rarely use it.
