• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RT Blues

Well my RT has some serious problems. Last month it was in the shop (causing a major disruption of our vacation) and the ECM (?) was replaced, the main computer component. This morning when I tried to ride to work the same problems occurred: DPS fault code, ABS fault code and Limp Mode in addition to continual missing/jerking when I tried to ride. It is scary. Back to the shop. Again. I love this machine but I need to be able to depend on it. I have no idea what could be wrong with the bike. Apparently neither does my dealer.

Check your battery connections (inside the body, not under the seat) for tightness and cleanliness, and check the rear frame ground (negative jump start terminal under the seat) for tightness. Also charge the battery and check the battery condition. Check to see that all the relays in the fusebox are properly seated. The symptoms you describe can easily be caused by low voltage, bad battery connections, or loose relays.

Thanks for the suggestions. The dealer claimed the checked the battery connections last month, but who knows. I'll get my hubby to do it. Is it possible that putting a license plate surround that is lighted could have sparked these problems?

Was it tapped into the brake lights? If so, that could anger Miss Nanny.

Thanks for mentioning the license plate add-on. Anything added to the system can cause "nanny" to go bonkers. If the problem is not solved by the suggestions given above--it might be time to look at another servicing dealer. Some are better than others.

Please let us know when/how you get the problem solved.

We came home from work and looked at the things suggested, except for the battery connection in the body of the bike. We found a loose relay and snugged down all the fuses. The fault codes disappeared. I went for a ride and all was fine. I came home and turned off the bike for a bit, re-started it and the codes flashed again. The same relay was loose again. My husband put a small piece of tape on the fuse box cover where that fuse is so a little more pressure will be applied it keep it in place. I turned the bike off and removed the key for about 20 minutes. The codes disappeared and I rode 35 miles without incident. I turned off the bike for about 40 minutes, key in the bike. When I started the bike a DPS code flashed briefly and disappeared. I rode 40 more miles with no problems and no more codes. I think the relay may have been the problem. Snugging it made me able to ride without problems. I may have to hook to a BUDS machine to clear the codes but for now it seems your suggestions have made a real difference. Thank you!

There is supposed to be a piece of foam in the fuse box cover that is there to help keep the fuses and relays in place. I believe some people have posted that theirs were never installed.

I was going to suggest this--but Ann has you covered.

The codes including 'limp mode', vss and dps, check engine, etc... were back this morning. We were able to get the limp mode cleared and I rode it the 2 hours to the dealer. They kept it saying they will replace a speed sensor (which indicated I had been riding over 100 mph. I had not!), a screw and one other part. No straight answer as to what is causing this. I just want to ride. :(

Hi guys,
I got my bike back today and the dealership installed a tone wheel, a speed sensor and some shims. I have no idea what a tone wheel is. Does anyone know? I rode the hour an a half home with no problem. I hope I am good for thousands of miles now!
