• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RS-S running warm, or is it normal?

Hi all!

Went on a lovely ryde on this lovely Washington day. Just a nice short ride around town. The temp outside was around 50 degrees, plus or minus a couple.

I noticed that the RS-S coolant gauge was at 5 bars, which is a notable amount above "middle". Is that normal? The F3 never went above middle even at above 100 degrees outside so this seems a little odd to me.

Coolant level looks fine BTW, and the bike runs smoothly with plenty of power.

Has Two Brothers exhaust, if that changes anything; other than that I believe it is stock.

Thanks all!

Julia

My own experience

My 2012 RS-S usually runs 4-5 bars on the temp gauge unless it is 40 or below. I have never had any heat issues with my machine, so I am assuming that it is normal.

Just sayin'............

Normal....

Unless you are maintaining a constant speed on the open road. Around town slow traffic it will run 5 bars open road/freeway will drop to 3 or 4 bars...

Keep eye on it! My ST also stayed at 5 for about 25k miles then 1 day, few errands then spiked from 5 to 7 bars that put me in limp mode high engine temp & was later found to be hose clamp came loose (crimp on type)

Covered by warranty but still left me stuck. :banghead: After the fix it has been staying at 5bars:bowdown: only 500miles or so tested now.
