• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. RPM's at stoplight flucuate a good bit, makes spyder creep

Hey guys,

2012 RSS SE5. So when I come to a stop while ryding, I've noticed the RPM's fluctuating between 1250-1500 while "idling" at stop. Is this normal? Hard to describe. But the fluctuation is consistent and cyclical...not intermittent and random. Almost in continuous evenly spaced waves every few seconds. If I don't have my foot on the brake while stopped she will inch forward every time the RPM's flutter up to 1450/1500 and then when they come back down to normal 1300/1350ish she doesn't inch...until a few more second go by and the RPM's go up again.

I'm guessing this is somewhat normal?

Maybe I'll take a video of it to show what's going on at some point.

Rpm's..!!

pretty much normal. Mine is between 1300 / 1450 but I have an RS sm5. If you have the se5 it could be higher because of the clutch system...

Not normal. That's a pretty big fluctuation. 1350-1400 or even a 1450 now and then is normal. First thing I'd guess is a vacuum leak. Maybe even the vac lines on the left side of the motor.

Since we have the exact same bike, I can verify mine does Not fluctuate to that extent.
It may go up or down a few hundreds at a stop light, but never to that degree
Something is surely amiss there. ICBW

You say yours goes up or down a few hundreds at a stop light...mine is only fluctuating 250 RPM's. It's normally 1300-1450 95% of the time but I have definitely seen 1250 once and also 1500 once or twice.

On the 998, I found it would fluctuate about 50 rpms from 1350 - 1400 or so.

The fluctuation on the 1330 seems to be less and it says right around 900.

Need more mechanics tools to play inside.

The low revs wouldn't bother me, as long as it doesn't stall.
But your high revs don't seem to be within a normal degree of idle.

Perhaps there is an adjustment that can be made by a tech. Not something I would tinker with at home. Not at my lower level of being mechanically inclined.
I don't even have a proper tool set, aside from the regular household stuff, and the onboard kit that came in the frunk.
Call your Can Am dealer and ask for someone in Spyder Service to assist your inquiry.

Hi Gene,

Re: If you have the se5 it could be higher because of the clutch system...

My '08 SE5 is between 1350 & 1450; bounces around those at random. Never varies more than that.
