I was wondering what it's like and how far north up the coast you can ride in early December. I'm an Iowa boy looking for a run up that coast for the scenery and the ride. Not sure where I'd like to start but would probably would trailer the F3 out and ride up a few days and then back. Maybe start north of LA and meander up the coast a few days. Then back. But not too sure about the weather for this and how far up the coast I would want to go. Thanks for your help.

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

You might get wet but the temps would be in the 50s as you get farther north. You can ryde it all year long, but bring the rain gear. PM me for any more detailed information. You will love it!

You can ride border to border under most circumstances. As long as you stay on the coastal roads you should not normally see ice or snow.
That said, I would stay in CA if rain and cold weather bother you like so many here.

you can do it all. Being from Iowa you should not have a problem with the cooler northern weather but if you prefer warmer drier ryde the southern route to San Diego from LA. We do that route quite often then coastal 2-3 hours and backroads longer and much more fun. If I were making that trip I would loop it down the backroads and back up the coastal route...Have a great trip whichever route you take....:thumbup:

We ride year long in Oregon but keep the rain gear handy, When its not raining the Oregon coast is a great ride . You will not need to worry about snow .
If you are out this way please PM me and I may be able to show you some great rides. The California redwoods are a must not miss if you can only take a few days of riding.

Wife and I just got back from California. We drove the coast from San Diego to Carmel on the sea. You can not ride the PCH all the way it breaks up alot southern. Very trafficy south. We did drive the hwy 1 from San Simeon to Carmel that was all costal. Very nice and curvy two lane. It was in the upper 50's to low 60's. The south was in the 70's and 80's. Was dry the whole time. Some fog early morning and just before dark. Kept the top down on our mustang rental car most of the time. Was fun once we got north of LA. I would not ride a bike on southern California highway's. Its either Crazy fast or very heavy traffic.

Riding the Wet Coast!
I live on the central Oregon coast (Florence) and you can count on rain with temps in the 40-50 range most of the time. Occasionally there will be black ice and or snow on the highlands on Hwy 101 in December/January. Brookings is the "banana belt", most scenic area is from Brookings north to Astoria. I ride most every day unless it is storming. Next week the weather guessers are telling us possible snow at higher elevations and into the Willamette Valley. Northern California coast can be a spectacular ride Redwoods, twisty roads, scenic ocean vistas, great restaurants. Bring rain gear and enjoy the adventure, if the weather gets nasty just hole-up in a motel. You only live once.

On the coast.... October to March that is the best time of year for travel right on the coast
YES it will be cool but there will be less traffic and you will enjoy the trip more.
DO NOT miss Hurst Castle on your trip up the coast.
