• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Riding the Spyder

I am 73 years young and have been ridding two wheels for 50+ years.I ride a 1300 cc Yamaha and can still drag pegs with the best of them. On May 27th the Red Head ( my lady friend and ridding buddy. She is also 73 ) bought a 2013 RTS because she gets scared on the two wheeler.I didn`t like this thing at first.I tried to think of what I was doing wrong. It wasn`t the death grip so what is wrong here?I quickly realalized this thing wasn`t going to throw me in the ditch some where so I went back to the things I learned on the two wheeler.Keep your head and eyes up and look down the road as far as you safely can.Don`t watch the road 10 yards ahead of you.Look as far around the curve as you can with your head and eyes up.If you are stopped and you are going to turn right, turn your head to the right and look down the road, the same for turning left.I know you veterns do these things without thinking about them and I hope this will help the new riders. We have rode a little over 7000 miles in the last 7 weeks with no problems.5000 miles was on one trip out west.I have learned to love this little yellow bird and we go down the road with a big grin on our face. And no,the red head is not scared on the Can Am.

Good to hear..!!

welcome to the wonderful world of roadsters...glad you and the red head are enjoying your yellow bird. Your not alone..keep on enjoying it, hope to see you on the road...:ohyea:

As you discovered; once you quit trying to make the Spdyer into what it is not, and apply common sense riding techniques... a Spyder suddenly wakes-up to be the machine it was designed to be.

Glad to hear you are enjoying it, and getting out on it often (apparently very often)!

Common Sense Reigns

Corner and curve driving is one of the few driving techniques that you do not have to. Un-learn when switching to a Spyder. You just have to remember what is down the road is as or more important then ten feet in front of you.

You can always tell the short view driver by watching them making a turn in increments. My spouse does that and gets so aggrevated when I make a comment like "why are you concentrating on his back end and not looking ahead?"

Here's to hoping you all enjoy your Spyder as much as I enjoy mine........:firstplace:
