• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Riding down the mountain

Here is a dumb question for a new rider. What do you need to do to ride a SE5 Spyder down a steep grade without wearing out the brakes? I would put a car in a lower gear. What do you do on a motorcycle?

Towed my trailer through Cabot trail with 2015 rt limited, just tap the downshift lever and it works just like a car. Seldom had to hit the brakes on the way down.:thumbup:

We have a 11 mile or so descent on one of my rides. I find second gear keeps it in the 30 - 35 mph range--which is sufficient for me on those twisties. I can ride the whole 11 miles without touching the brake.

As long as you keep the engine rpm at 4000 or over, on the 2013 & earlier, the clutch stays engaged solidly and engine compression holds you back. Don't know what the exact scenario is with the 1330 engine models.

THIS REALLY HAPPENED

When " IGETAROUND " ( Al ) came to visit after SPYDERQUEST 15 , we went to the top of Mt Washington in NH. I think it was a 7 to 8 mile road. He had a manual trans. I have an SE on my 14 RT. I went down in 1st and 2nd without using the brakes to much........He had issues..............Mike
