• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Riddle me This? ETC Question

For those with fly by wire throttles it states in the manual that the ETC will make a high pitched sound for 40 min after shut down. And it does it drove crazy when I first brought it home unplugged everything in the garage and was checking the garage door opener and wiggled the garage door and it stopped. Thought for sure it was the door opener:opps: Now I know better. So the riddle is if you turn the key on the ETC makes no noise. Why then does it have to whine for 40 min after shutdown shouldn't 5 or 10 minutes be sufficient ? Seems like it is causing an un necessary battery drain to me.

One other thing what is it with the headlight system? I adjusted mine last night ( another fail from the dealer set up low beams went 15 ft in front of the Spyder) and now have decent low beams but the sharp cut off from the shutter prevents signs from being seen until you are very close. Wouldn't it have been better to use a dual bulb system?

That is done to correct a hot start problem. Sorry I don't think the engine is cool in 10 minutes.

On my 2011 anytime I turn the key on even without starting it, it whines!
Yes for those of us with good hearing on high freq sound it is freaking annoying which is why I leave the radio on when working on it!

The whining on the 2011 and later RTs is a result of a routine added to prevent hot restart problems that plagued the 2010's. Upon shutdown the throttle plates are held tightly shut for 40 minutes. This prevents fuel from saturating the intake manifold, leading to hot restart problems. The time period is what BRP determined it took to be sure to dissipate any fuel present. Don't let it bother you...be thankful you don't have the restart problems.

Dual bulbs don't work well with projector lenses. You have two choices...get the light as far down the road as possible, or use a lower olight output. In this case BRP chose the former. It works well if the headlights are correctly adjusted...although the cutoff can make street signs mounted relatively high hard to see, especially up close. The projector lenses do that to some extent anyway.

think of it this way;
The whining of the 2011 and later bikes, is there to prevent the whining of the owners about hot-start issues... :gaah: ;)
