Request help locating stamped EIN & VIN number

Somehow my dealer messed up my license and registration, and now my vehicle is registered as a 3-wheeler ATV (off road) in the state of California. The dealer refused to help, so now I have to go through the DMV verification process.:banghead:

I need to show them the stamped Engine Identification number and the VIN stamped on the frame. I just started dis-assembly of the back cover and still no VIN. I'll admit I am a total novice here...can anyone give me some guidance before I have to ebay 4 boxes of Spyder parts?

For the EIN, what panels do I need to take off to be able to show this to the DMV?

For the VIN on the lower frame, do I actually have to remove the front right wheel?

Did you look at page 104 of the operators' manual?

I did use the manual...not very helpful for a novice user as I was looking at the wrong parts of the bike. A neighbor driving by saw my puzzled look and stopped to help me find both numbers, so I'm ready for my visit to the DMV tomorrow with my disassembled "ATV".

American Marine Sports in Sacramento. Not very helpful when the tags came in wrong...actually hung up on us when we asked for proof to take to the DMV to prove that he registered it properly. I'll have to make a longer drive for the next service, but won't be returning to that one.

Wow, things sure are different there. Our dealer was not all that helpful when they messed up our title and registration, either, but only because he couldn't be. Once the papers are filed with the Secretary of Stae (DMV), it is between the owner and the SOS, here in Michigan. In this case, the dealer submitted the correct paperwork, but the DMV screwed it up badly. Took a couple of months to straighten out the title, but in the meantime they gave us a correct registration (after two days and much work on my part), and a note "from my mother" to explain to any cops why the registration and their computer didn't match. Very nice and responsive lady at the SOS office. Best of luck sorting this out.
