• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Replacing LED strip?

Due to a minor issue with one of the LEDs I put on the mirror housing of my RT (horizontal-inner-top), I've got to replace it. I just installed them last week and the sticky back tape and adhesive that came with them is fantastic. Once I even touched the strip to the surface you could tell it wasn't going anywhere!!!
I'm not sure how to replace it without screwing up the mounting location. I've received replacement LED's, but salvaging the strip would be nice too.
Any advice?

BTW: TricLED has outstanding customer service! They are so friendly, courteous and prompt! It doesn't get better than that!

This sticky tape is the same as emblem tape and one way to remove an emblem is to use fishing line to cut under it. Also a hair dryer to heat it will help loosen things. I think it might work similar to the hangups you can buy to hand a picture. Get some loose then it might pull the rest off.

REMOVAL

Yes you can buy specialty products for this and just about everything else , However you probably already have WD-40 and that works about as good as any thing....You will have to pry it up with a knife ...................Dental floss works nice too but access to use it is not going to happen in your case.......A better thing than dental floss is welding wire ....it's extremely thin and practically un-breakable...( I used it to take off the REFLECTORS on the fenders, & side cases ( easy peasey )........Mike

Try WD40 and one of those toothpicks with the floss loop on the end, seems like you could keep the floss tight enough to cut the adhesive fairly neatly.

+3 on the WD40. I have tried a lot of special adhesive removers and I find WD40 works the best and doesn't harm the finish.

Good Advice!

Thank All.... good advice! So it looks like WD40 and elbow grease is the way to go.
Will WD40 clean off well enough with soap/water and Alcohol to re-attach the new LEDs? I know it's gotta be really clean for good contact.

....You must get the WD-40 completely off........I would dip a "Q" tip in laundry detergent and just swab the area without water ....let it work a few minutes , then clean off the detergent.....After it dries wipe it with alittle alcohol just before you put on the new LED's..........................JMHO.....Mike

WD40 Works great!

I have just used it to replace the front fender reflectors and it cleans up the adhesive really well. Then I washed with soap/water and then swabbed with alcohol before the 3M Prep....works like a champ!
Thanks everybody!
