• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Well it's time to replace the old rear tire with 16,000 plus miles.

I know the Kumho --Toyo have been mention here. But who likes What Tire Best? And are there any other tires brands that people tried and liked? I guess Yokoha (ES100) makes a tire also.

I'm looking to get better milage than the stock tire with good Wet Traction & Quite Running. I believe the higher the UTQG rating the longer tire will last.

Could you please tell me- the modle # - where bought and how $.

All input is appreciated. Thanks

I currently run the Yokohama Avid IV.

And... I didn't do a very good job of research on it first. While I have had no dry weather problems with it (it's pretty darn good), I doubt that it will be much to brag about on wet roads. It's a bi-directional tire (use on either side of a car) with the sipes running the right way on one side and opposite on the other.

Oops. I now do a lot of burn-offs to get rid of it before wet weather gets here.

I just put on an automotive tire at 18,500 miles. I am using the BFGoodrich gForce Sport. It was $116.00 locally. I could have gotten it at Tire Rack for the same price delivered. It gets high ratings for wet weather use, for whatever those ratings are worth (subjective). I am starting at 36 psi.

I put the same tire on Spyder#1 but only got 2,000 miles before the fire. I am looking to get 50,000 miles on this one. We shall see. You can be sure it will get reported right here.

The OEM tire is available online for $120.00, but it just isn't a very good tire. I expect the OEM front tires to give me 40,000 miles. I may go automotive at that time, if someone comes up with a good alternative. The problem is the size. There isn't much available in a 165 mm tire. Going to 175 mm increases the choices quite a lot. I am not sure we have enough room to spare with the fender struts at 175 mm. There was a posting by someone who did the 175 mm tire with succuss. Once again, we shall see.

I can't remember where people even got the Toyo and the Kumho tires from. Of the two I'm leaning towards the Toyo cause I think it was said to get better milage (lasts longer).

I think we got our Kumho tires from Tire Rack online.

16,000 miles on 1 rear tire. That's pretty good.
I replaced my first one at 11,200 miles. Although, I probably could have gone more. I was getting into the indicators. I'm going to try to go more than 11,500 or so, this time around.
But, talking to the dealer, I will probably stay with the stock tire; at least until I hear there is some really great improvement otherwise.

It's hard telling on the Kumho, cause I haven't changed it out yet. I put it on at 13,000 approx and now I have 13,000 miles on the Kumho and still have many miles to go. When I change it out, I will post how many miles I got on the tire. By the way, it is great in wet weather, I have ridden in a lot of rain with this tire.
