• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Rear Tire Change

Has anyone on here changed the rear tire on an RT? I ask, because I'd like to use something other than the OEM tire, but none of my local spyder dealers will install anything that's not OEM. It seems like getting the belt realigned properly would be fairly tricky. Any suggestions? Somebody? Anybody?

There have been some rumblings about "Vee" tires...
They are rated for use on "motorcycles" and come in the sizes that Spyders need...
I think that one of the supporting vendors sells them; I'm just not sure which one! :opps:
Take a look in the supporting vendors section; happy hunting!

Any word yet on your 2014???

Rear tire

Darryl,
DIY, and order an kuhmo or an arachnid. Any bike shop can put it on. The axle adjusters are simple. Put it all back together. Jack up rear. Spin tire. Look at belt. Spin tire in the opposite direction. If the belt migrates on the pulley, turn the axle adjuster a quarter turn. If it passes the spin test, tighten the axle. If it is worse, turn the adjuster the other way. Check belt tension while you are there. Call me if you get stuck. Joe

I just put a KUHMO on my RS had it done at a local shop I used ride-on for the balancer works great very smooth.
:thumbup: good luck it was nice to find a local shop that has a certified mechanic. Ride-on also will seal small holes in the center of the tire while on the road if you pick up a nail. jtpollock

Ann,
Thanks!
I'm going to have to do a bit of research on these new "shoes".
Since they're a motorcycle tire; I don't see how any BRP dealer could refuse to mount them for a customer.
Perhaps BRP will even go looking for a better set of tires for the Spyders; now that there are some options.
