There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Rear Axle Wear Sleeves

My manual says to replace these wear sleeves at 12,000 miles or 2 years. Please inform- what parts are they- what do they look like-anyone done this? 2012 RSS. Thanks. John

Good question. I don't know what the hell they mean. All I do is when I am changing out the tire. I have a full set of bearing, seals and o-rings on hand just in case. I actually have only used the o-ring.

By the exploded view there is nothing there that I would call a wear sleeve.

The only manual I have for an RS is for 2013 so I opened it and searched on "wear sleeve" and the only place that term comes up is in the maintenance schedule lists. Odd that there is no reference to the wear sleeve in the actual sections regarding rear wheels and assemblies. Maybe it is one of those terms that didn't translate well from French to English?

How about 41?? John

Interesting. ...

According to the parts list the only parts that could be considered a sleeve are in fact spacers (in american english). These do not wear out unless pounded on too hard allowing bearings to have wiggle room but never seen it happen. :dontknow: If you find who can answer this question ask them if the brake light comes on when the nanny applies the brakes....:roflblack:

I've changed tires 3 times plus a bearing replacement. Never replaced anything else and I don't know anyone who has. I wouldn't worry about it as having taken this assembly apart more than once, I can't see anything that is going to wear or need replacement as long as it isn't bent or suffered some abnormal damage.

I believe the term wear sleeve is an improper french to english translation from the french term for bearings. Its the bearings that need replacement. We generally recommend swapping out the bearings every other tire change.

That makes sense. I've never encountered a 'Wear Sleeve' on any axle assembly. Translations can be messy.

Wear Sleeve Mystery Solved

Just talked to the dealer- he told me they are the large bushings that fit the wheel/pulley and go next to the inside of the swing arms. Looks like 38 on the schematic. Suggested checking them for any ovalness. They have not had any problems with these. Thanks for the space here and thanks for all of your help!! John
