• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Rear Air Bag Question

I have a 2017 F3T. While the side cover is off so that I can adjust the drive belt and install the DocH damper, I noticed coarse and fine sand under the air bag. I have read that this can cause the bottom of the air bag to wear and eventually fail. I also know that there is an after market boot that can be added to address the problem.

My question is: has anyone tried applying a bead of silicone under the air bag to keep debree out? My thought on procedure:
1. Empty air from air bag.
2. Jack up rear of Spyder.
3. Clean between bottom of air bag and frame.
4. Apply bead of silicone.
5. Fill air bag to max specification.
6. Lower Spyder.
7. Let silicone dry.
8. Adjust air pressure before mounting Spyder.

Regards,

Don

Try it. I'm lazy and just ordered Doc's Air Ryde Rock Armour as we've done some extensive gravel/dirt roads this year.

works great. if i can install it anyone can. just make sure not to start
the bottom bolt to the airbag crossthreaded. sometimes it will take
a while to get it started when reinstalling.

The outside of the air bag at the bottome will roll in and out as the bag is compressed/released during riding. I have my doubts that silicone would keep a tight seal between the bag and where it sits.
