• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Ready to leave Harley

I've been apart of numerous Harley groups for years. In down to my last Harley group. I have left all the others behind because of their attitude towards people that don't ride Harley's. I'm sick and tired of the Harley mentality. Most of them think they are the best of the best because they ride Harley's. I own a Harley street glide. It's a nice bike but it's just a bike. I'm looking to get out of it and go back to a Spyder mainly because of my severe arthritis. I'm also wanting to get back on a Spyder because I love the Spyder community. The people that I know and have ran into, are the nicest group of riders I've ever met. I give respect to anyone that rides anything. Doesn't matter if your riding a scooter or a Spyder, two wheels or three. We are all pretty much doing the same thing. We enjoy riding and feeling the freedom of the open road. I've defended Spyders and even Slingshots so many times this last month,it's ridiculous. Now I have guys in this Harley group publicly bashing Spyders at motorcycle events. That's unacceptable. A few Spyder riders showed up to an event to honor riders and were bashed and told they couldn't park with the other bikes and had to ride in the back. Excuse me?? That's not how this works and I had a few choice words with some of the people doing it. Sorry for the rant.

Thanks for that! It's not just Harley's we have a Victory group here that is just as bad. It should just be about respect and the joy of the ride.
It's about the ride not what you ride!!!

"Brand Myopia" has existed ever since there were different brands to argue about! :D
We pick on Harleys in here too; sometimes more than we should...
But you're right; it's all about sharing the road, and getting some "Wind Therapy"! :2thumbs:
:welcome:

Harley Riders

Not all Harley riders are like that. I have been a Goldwing rider and a Harley rider, along with several other makes and models. It's not the bike it's the riders mentality and let's face it not all riders are the brightest bulbs on the tree. I am came to Spyder because I like the way they look and ride and kind of like being on the cutting edge with the wind still in my face. At 78 and a near 60 year two wheel rider, the big bikes just got to the point, or I did, where I wasn't as comfortable as I wanted to be. Enjoy your Spyder and Ride SAFE.;)

It's all good. It's the price one pays for being different. I personally have a few bikes and can "fit in" if I had wanted to. But I was raised to be an individual and my wife and I passed the trait on to our sons. The only way someone like that could bother us if we were to give them the power over our lives. Which we don't.

Good for you to be bothered by people like that. Most would remain silent to fit in. By doing so they are just as guilty as the rest of them.

Ride safe and often.

You make very valid and excellent points. I have never bashed another persons ride. Those that look down their noses at other riders who happen to have a different brand can take their attitudes and shove them--IMO--of course.

I do not need to own brand X, Y, or Z in order to make me a true motorcycle rider. In over 40 two wheelers and now going on 5 :spyder2:'s, I have liked them all. There are only 2 major brands I have not owned--HD and BMW. Both were left by the wayside because the ergo's did not fit. BMW thinks everyone is 6'5" tall and HD also seems to be built for taller and those with non-arthritic hands to grip the levers. I did test drive both flavors in years past. They just were not for me for the reasons above.

I do not like any bashing

Ive seen a lot here also

But I do enjoy the site much!

Lot of great commenters and a few whatevers

But why why why bash
Just enjoy & let others enjoy

%90 of all bikers bankers mechanics cashiers I run in to are great

%10 of the rest
Not worth ruining my day over

Strongly agree agree with your comments, I ride a Harley and my wife rides a Spyder. Never been one to make bad comments about riding ANY motorcycle. I think by riding a motorcycle we all have something in common whether we want to admit it or not (which is the freedom you feel on the open road). I for one wave at everyone on a 2 or 3 wheeler, because we all enjoying the open air and stress relief. Ride on and don't worry about some people's attitude.

Friends

I have friends that I ride with that ride Harleys, Yamahas and Kawasakis. We all ride together and none are judgmental on what the other is riding. We do give each other a bad time if one of us has a mechanical issue but it is all in fun. I think a lot of the bashing that goes on in this site is just fun. Most of us have ridden other brands and are now Spyder lovers for one reason or another. Let us not judge and to each his own. Those that judge and bash are missing out on our company and friendship. That's ok, I'll still be there to help them out if they ever need it.

There's "Bashing"...

And there's "Good-Natured ribbing"... :D

The trick: knowing when to pop open another beer, and tell the other guy that his Wife is pretty!

we have had a spyder for three years now. have ridden at americade with several harley friends in the past, but wasn't invited to this year because too many guys were bashing them for letting a spyder in the group. to be honest, half the guys couldn't keep up with the spyder in the twisties in the adirondacks anyways, and i think it made some of them a little uneasy with their other buddies. oh well, we had five spyders at americade this year, camping at moose hillock, and pre-running all the rides for spyderquest 2015. i'll take that over riding with a bunch of harley snobs any day! oh yes, i used to ride a harley!

The group of people have been riding with for many years, 12 years or more, we used to ride Honda's , Yamaha's with a few Harleys thrown in. But over the years it seems like everybody but me have switched to Harleys. I'm still invited to ride with them but its just not the same. I have always been the type that didn't like to do something because everybody else was doing it. Sometimes you get into trouble for doing that. Don't ask me how I know. I like to be different in certain things and one of them is ownership of a motorcycle. When everybody started buying Harley in my group, I switched from a Honda Magna to a Triumph Rocket. Then when knees and hips started hurting more, I started another episode in my life and purchased my first Spyder in 2013. Well I'm on my second Spyder and haven't looked back once. The Spyder is everything I was always looking for in a bike. Comfort, radio blasting, cruise control and the joy of riding the open road. Granted I still have to stop when everybody else stops at a Harley store when on a ride with them. But I never once had an urge to buy a Harley. I love my :spyder2:.

Thanks for the comments everyone. This is why I love this site. I loved my 09 Spyder but the heat was a real issue and that's why I got rid of it. I'm hoping to get out of my Harley and into a F3-S this year. I had to stop riding with some Harley buddies and sport bike friends because of their actions towards others. My sport bike friends were the worst. They got a group mentality on the highways thinking they owned the road. Stopping traffic and messing with cars. Needless to say I just rode off and never went with them again. Oh well. To each his own. I hope to meet some of you when I get my Spyder. Thanks again for letting me "VENT"

I have owned one of almost every brand of motorcycle made... there will always be "brand" bashing... as you put it.. it takes place here also.. I don't give a flip about someone bashing my brand of bike one way or another.. it just confirms their inability to comprehend...

My husband rides a Harley and so do the couple that we ride with, I ride the Spyder. I have found that more (both men and women) people come up to me and ask me about the Spyder than not. Most are curios about it and want to know how i like it. I've found it fascinating on how many people i've met because of the Spyder. I have not received one negative comment on it. They just want to know about it....

I haven,t had a bad comment yet when on the Spyder. But only had it a Month or more.I ride with some Harldy guys and we joke around. When i had my Wing when ready to go they would always say when i was going to start it as it was so quiet.I would never ride with any one that bashed another riders choice.A bike is a bike to enjoy.

I have seen the sport bike riders do this in person also. And then they glorify it by putting it on Youtube and running from cops. Not a group you want to ride with. That is for sure.

I have no room to bash any brand, i own one of each:D

Have had a Sears Mini-bike, Yamaha two stroke enduro, Yamaha cruiser, Kawasaki Z1900, Harley Super Glide, Harley Road King, BMW R1200RT and BMW K1600GTL. Rode our new 2015 RT-S home from the dealer on Saturday. At a stoplight on a 4 lane portion of the highway, I was at the front of one of the lines in the right lane. As I waited, a Ducati Diavel (I think) with a license plate that said something something "Devil" rolled up between the lanes and stopped just ahead of me to my left. In his full leathers and with what looked like a 280 mm rear tire bulging out of the sides of the rear rim, he stood up, turned in my direction and gave me a big "thumbs up" sign. It not only made my day, it made my Spyder buying decision complete.

As individuals, most people can be someone that all get along with. Put a few people together in a group and things seem to often go South a bit. It is somewhat human / animal behavior and I think that is just what makes this group a little more special than some. It takes an attitude that is "better" than normal to be as accommodating as this group is. I'm glad to be a part of it.
