• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Rallies and Gatherings Forum?

I have been to SITS, Lamontster's BBQ (twice) and Can Am Spyder Owner Events, all phenomenal and I'm sure more to come. SpyderFest remains a dream that I beg for the time to attend. That said, there are other local or regional events that are either Spyder-inclusive or Spyder-centric, but that are less known or have smaller, but equally fun venues, few or none of which really conflict with the bigger events ... Why? Because the hosts and attendees of the smaller events want to attend the bigger ones too. For example, Ohio Spyder Ryders (www.ohiospyderryders.org) has a fairly substantial fall event, this year (Oct 11-14) being headquarterd at Salt Fork State Park and Lodge, OH. My meetup group, The Maryland Can Am Spyder Web (www.meetup.com/marylandspyderweb) will be joining them with six or more ryders. We also have a member who is putting together a ryde event down to Myrtle Beach, NC in 2014. This would be a draw for ryders from MD, VA, DC, NJ and NC. Yours truly also hosts a semi-annual Maxi-Scoot and Spyder Ryde in New Holland, PA (www.midatlanticspyder.com). Our Spring event was from June 1-3, included about a dozen Spyders. Our attendees come in from MD, VA, DC, NJ, NY, OH and PA. This fall's event will be from September 21-23 and I anticipate the Spyder contingent will grow.

Unfortunately, these smaller venues only appear once in the sidebar when initially announced, in one of the State Chapter areas, then fade into oblivion insofar as visibility to the rest of the forum after a few hours. We don't have a way here to announce across state chapters. So: Wouldn't it be nice if, in addition to the other forum areas, that we had a "Rallies and Gatherings" area? That way, all SpyderLovers.com members could go to one place on this site to see all Spyder-inclusive or Spyder-Centric events ... wherever they are, across the nation during the riding season. They could be set to expire (and disappear) after they occur, to keep the forum current. This is just an idea, and in NO WAY meant to detract from Lamonster's events, SITS, SIA, SpyderFest or BRP Corporate Owner Events. I see these smaller events as a vehicle to keep the Spyder Community rev'd up with as many activities as possible, especially between the biggies. You could say we smaller event hosts are like the small business amongst the big companies.

Lamont? What do you think?

Best to all ..

:agree:, I'm all in for an events sub forum

Oh be nice having a New England section, I often look at the individual state sub forum for this area, be nice to have a combined one.

I think that's a terrific idea and it would assist in planning where multiple events are scheduled for the same time period...Throws everything into caos..

On the home page, the right hand side, is a calendar.

Think you can give Lamont the dates of your event, and he will post it there.

Thanks, I'm aware of the calendar ... and now having taken another look, it looks more utilized than I've seen it in previous years. I'm also pleased with how one can post the entire event there.

My only remaining comment would be that it isn't clearly marked as an "Events Calendar" at the home page, clearly inviting SpyderLovers to come see everything that's going on across the land. Instead, it has to be 'discovered.'

Thanks much,

Paul
