Rain Gear

Cuban Spyder

MOgang Member
My wife and I are newbies to the Spyder world. Getting our first RS Saturday.
Anyway, we're wondering what rain gear people use. Pros , Cons , Info ,
Best deals , etc.

I like the TourMaster one-piece suits. They are reasonably priced at around 80 bucks and I've had no trouble keeping dry in them.
First Gear also makes a great suit
Frogg Toggs and anything from BMW also seem to garner pretty decent reviews.
More than half of the fun is in the shopping...

:congrats::welcome:

Welcome to a great community and a wealth of knowledge! Looks like you might be dealing with Cowtown (location guess).

With the way the weather has been this fall, Im going with mesh jackets, whatever YOU think is a quiet comfortable helmet, and some light weight gloves. Then let the riding begin!

Again with my learning to read, Bajaron is amazing to deal with, I have used Frogg Troggs due to work, and also I have a quick on small space jacket / leggings from Target that are Coleman and were 22 bucks.

BajaRon, I believe, carries the FirstGear rain wear. He is a Sponsor here. ;)

For options, you can also check out Frogg Toggs.

Great rainsuits depend on where you live. In the south during the summer Frogg Toggs let more air in and heat out and still keep you pretty dry. Up north the one peice First Gear, Tourmaster etc suits also keep you warmer and dry. Depends on the outside temp and humidity. In Ga for example a very well made Harley Davidson two peice rainsuit keeps the rain out but you will still be soaking wet from the sweat generated in the plastic bubble created by the suit!

I have tried frogg toggs and after riding 12+ hours in the rain, was soaking wet!! I now use a two piece tourmaster suit.....try on a one piece and see how easy it is for youto put it on and off...then consider you being wet and under a bridge and putting it on!! my current suit has pants with suspenders and are long and big enough for me to get into without taking my boots off...I also have boot covers......I like to take long trips!!! make sure you try the rain suit on with your gear on........ one tip is to put the hood under your helmet so the rain does not go down your back!!!!!

We've got 2 piece Frogg Toggs...more breathable than the more traditional rain gear, which we need with Florida's heat. We learned early to make sure to put the hood up, or water drips down your neck. They don't keep us 100% dry but pretty close to it. (Not sure anything does if it's really raining...we have Can-Am motorcycle gloves which are advertised as waterproof, etc but which were sopping wet after a NY deluge and took 3 days to dry out).

Tour Master Elite 2 piece rain suit, breathes decently, keeps me dry, around $90. I've never been able to find waterproof motorcycle gloves.

I use first gear textiles and put the liners in when the rain is cold.

Also have a pair of rev it leather pants that has a waterproof liner.

Sivi waterproof boots.

Waterproof snowmobile gloves.

All above work very well. All tested to extreme here in Alaska. :2thumbs:

WELCOME ABOARD...LET THE FUN BEGIN....SMART MOVE GETTING AN RS.....I WILL BE AT SPYDERFEST..MAYBE YOU WILL GET SOME IDEA'S.....MIKE......

My wife and I use Gore Tex jackets and rain pants, or those with a material like Gore Tex. As mentioned above, a hood can be very useful. Wear it under the helmet and it keeps rain from running down your neck and down your back. Velcro closing sleeves are handy and make it easier to slip on over a bulky riding outfit. For the pants, they should be long enough to cover down to your feet when in riding position, so water doesn't drip into your boots. A good long zipper on both legs will help immeasurably in getting them on over boots. These outfits worked well last summer when we crossed ND during continuous rains and flooding, and during heavy rains our last day coming home.

i have found that my FirstGear mesh jacket rain liner works really well.
but i also bought a rain suit (2 piece) from LeatherUp.com
i don't remember it's brand and it is heavy duty but NOT breathable so i only use it in cold weather otherwise i sweat to death in it.

shop around. i see you listed your addy as Cuba, MO so ask the people at CowTown (i asusme they sell gear too) and they will steer you straight i am sure.

happy ryding and say goodbye to all the TV shows you used to watch because now the open road is the love of your life.

:welcome: :spyder2: lovers . I Tried Frog Toggs and a cheaper brand , niether work well for us and then have Harley rain suits, keep us pretty darn dry .
