• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Rack for Givi Bags

I really like the look and price of the Givi bags over the Corbin (personal preference). I read somewhere that the spyder looked kind of "fuggly" without the bags on. My questions are:

1) Can someone post pictures of a spyder without the Givi bags on so I can see the mounting rack

2) It is easy to take the rack on and off? Let's you don't normally use the bags but once in a while you take a weekend trip and would need them. Afraid some would take the bags while parked.

Thanks much.

This is a pretty old thread but it contains the pictures of my Spyder with GIVI bags. The last post in that thread contains a link to MRB's install of the rack, which has some good info and pics too. Here are a few recent pics of my Spyder with no bags on the rack.

The rack can be installed or removed in about 20 minutes. There are three main sections of the rack, a tailpiece and two side pieces. Four nuts and bolts hold the three sections together. The tailpiece is attached to the Spyder with a screw and the threaded insert that holds the tip of the underseat pan to the Spyder. The side pieces attach to the Spyder with the front bolt that holds the seat / grab rail assembly to the Spyder and the bolt that holds the muffler clamp to the Spyder. On the left side, they give you a bolt and bushing set to use that same mounting location sans muffler. Also, the turn signals relocate from the Spyder rear side covers to the rack tailpiece but they are basically plug and play.

I wouldn't worry about someone taking the bags unless you are parking in a really bad area. (In which case, I wouldn't want to leave the Spyder there either.) They are locked onto the rack and you need a key to take them off the rack. If you want really quickly removable bags that don't have a rack, you are better off with one of the many generic soft sided bags.

You the man!

Thanks much BJT. That is exactly wanted to know and see and more.

When I get my spyder and find myself in your neck of the woods, I'll stop over and offer you a home brewed beer. (Mont Blanc is just a short detour on the trip I plan to make next summer with spydie).

Thanks again!
