• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Questions re: extended warranty

Hi again,

I've been out kicking tires on pre-owned Spyders and have some questions about BRP's extended warranty. I thought I'd check here before asking a dealer...
  • How long does the ext warranty run?
  • Can I get an ext warranty if the factory warranty has expired?
  • Deductibles?
  • Exclusions?
  • How much (approx)?
Thanks in Advance...you guys have been really great about answering newbie questions...

  • How long does the ext warranty run?--- 1, 2, or 3 extra years for the BRP BEST warranty extension. (3, 4, or 5 years total warranty)
  • Can I get an ext warranty if the factory warranty has expired?--- No, the original warranty must still be in effect.
  • Deductibles?--- $50 deductible
  • Exclusions?--- Pretty much the same as for the standard warranty. No normal wear parts covered, such as tires, belts, or clutches. IMO, they are a bit stickier on this during extended warranty, and will cover less than they might on the original coverage.
  • How much (approx)?--- Figure $300 per year of coverage, give or take $50-$100. Added to that is an additional premium if coverage is purchased more than 60 days after the original Spyder delivery date.

I see your in AZ, what part? The wife and I are in Gilbert. We purchased the extended warranty on her Spyder. With all of the electronics on the Spyder it was a no brainer for us. She has a RT-S SE5 and didnt want any issues if it came up. And based on the book time for repairs, one repair would more than cover an extended warranty. If I was to buy a pre-owned Spyder and had a chance to buy an extended warranty I would in a heart beat. Its like they say, its better to have it and not use it, then not have it and needed it down the road. The only issues we have had so far is a belt alignment issue, they replaced the bely under warranty.

Pays to shop around for prices. I paid $650 for the Best 3 year at Honda Winston-Salem NC. Any dealer can sell you the warranty by phone as far as I know.

$650 for the three years is a very good price. I paid $800 for three years added on to my OEM two years. I bought from my dealer thinking they would be more receptive to fixing BR1 if needed. Not a bargain, but I figured that in five years I will use it plus more as some of the repairs on Spyders can bring tears to your purse. The dealer can charge any price he wishes. I have no idea what he pays BRP, but makes a nice profit on extended warranties... In 5,200 miles I had a steering sensor replaced, but no other problems.
