• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Questions for Lidlox users

I have two questions for users of Lidlox.

1) What do you do with the helmet extenders when you aren't parked? Do you guys leave them attached to the handle bars or do you put them someplace?
2) What do you do with the Lidlox keys? Since the CanAm key doesn't have a hole in them, you can't put it on a keychain together.

I'm just curious how people do this and don't lose or misplace parts, if there are some recommendations and good habits.

Hello,

I leave the extender and key in my "frunk" when the helmet is not attached to the Lidlox. When the Lidlox is in use I put the keys in my pocket since I will need them before I can go anywhere on my Spyder.

I keep my barrel key on the SPYDER key keeper which has a split ring for other keys ( house). The helmet "T" has Velcro on it and attach it to the frunk inside lid with the other part of the Velcro

On your RS do you have the trunk liner? I had it on mine, i used to keep the keys for the saddle bags there. On the F3, there is no trunk liner option so the key has the potential to get lost in the bottom of the trunk. Though the Gun Doctor's idea of having velcro on the extender is interesting.

I kind of wish there was a tiny locking storage compartment on the tank that would fit small items like accessory keys

Is it easy to remove once installed? I'm waiting on the heated handlebar grips to come in, I've been told it could be 2-3 months. If I buy Lidlox I'd rather not wait that long to use them, so I'd have to take them off and put them back on.

velcro! good idea

I put the key on my spyder keyring which is attached to my spyder key holder (there's a hole in the end of the plastic keyholder, and I put a ring through that).

When I had my RT, I kept the extenders in the glovebox. Now that I have an F3, I'll probably also do the velcro to the inside of the frunk lid (thanks GunDoctor for the idea!). I can't attach my new lidlox until I get my heated grips :( so I'll be carrying my helmet for awhile yet.

I keep the extenders in the glove box and my wife and I each keep a key on our keychains. The Spyder key doesn't have a hole in it, but the key holder (or protector or keeper or whatever you call it) does have a hole, so I keep both the Spyder key and the Lidlox key on my keyring. I'm very pleased with the Lidlox.

I've always hated those key holders... I've actually never brought it with me because I either punch a code to get into my garage or punch a code on my electronic deadbolt... I so wish CanAm would come up with a was to do DESS security and still have a normal key. (Not that I want a huge bunch of keys banging around on the top of the tank)

With 4 keys, I suppose at least one key could be kept in the F3 toolkit under the seat as a spare in case you lose it on a ride...

The video instructions say to put some Blue Loctite on the main bolt that screws into the grip. If you don't put the Loctite on the bolt, it will be very easy to remove and re-install. If you do use a drop of the Blue Loctite, it should still be reasonably easy to remove, it will just take a bit more strength. You can then clean the threads with alcohol, then re-install when ready.

:yikes::yikes: Not RED, use BLUE Loctite! RED is for "this ain't never coming off." BLUE is for "it will only come off when I want it to."

I don't use the extenders, The D rings on our helmets fit in the lidlox just fine.

We keep the barrel key on the key ring with the bike key. (We added a conventional key hole to the CanAm keys so they fit on a normal key ring.)

My HUGE apology!!! I have no idea why I said red. I absolutely meant BLUE. I edited my post to say Blue Loctite. Thanks for catching this.
