Question for the Magic Man re: Triple Play

Is the NMN Triple Play unit affected by installing a Talon T-3300 alarm? I want both on my Spyder (I get it in 1 more week!), but I didn't know if there would be any problems since both use the rear tail-light connectors. If there is no problem, in which order should I connect them? Many thanks in advance.

If anyone wants to know why I would put an alarm on my Spyder...I live in a high-crime neighborhood and don't have a garage.

No sorry, I'm not an alarm kind of guy. I have GREAT insurance.

But, if you you do get a Triple Play and the Trunk lights are wires separate from one another (not one common wire) Iyt can be made to do what you want and also have each trunk light be a turn signal too.

I do have Talon installed and working (including perimeter alarm) with the Evoluzione brake light kit and the following NMN accesories: quad H.I.D., front led mud flaps and fender tip kit.

To help keep those away who like to touch/sit on it? Also just because its under waranty some have aftermarket products on it that people may want and ebay is usually cheaper than retail. Also for some its just a peace of mind knowing they did everything possible to keep their spyder their own. Just my thoughts though.

Interesting...I've left my bike all over the place and haven't had an issue. I know people were taking catalytic converters from cars when platinum was priced very high...criminals were literally getting under cars and cutting them off in the middle of the day!

In regards to the Spyder, I just don't see the need for such an alarm. If someone wants my bike that bad, they'll defeat anything I do to protect it...when I first bought it, I was going to get one of those crazy locks to connect the tires so it can't be driven/moved...didn't do it as bikes, for some strange reason, usually don't get messed with. I have plenty of patients who ride bikes and live in downtown Baltimore, which is as unsafe as any place in the country...seems like cars are broken into all the time but nobody messes with the bikes...sometimes they have covers, sometimes they don't...regardless, all you need are a few people to lift the thing and carry it onto a flatbed...no alarm will help as they all can be deactivated relatively quickly (there are videos on this)...nowadays, when an alarm goes off, nobody even looks! Sad...

If you have insurance, that should be good enough...ride and enjoy the bike...I think too many people obsess over their possessions...the Spyder can be quite the money pit and the obsessing can be done in a group fashion...:dontknow:

I do not have a garage to lock up my Spyder, only a desginated parking spot in my complex. Second, I live in a neighborhood with statistically either the highest or next-to-highest crime rate in the city. The locals here affectionately call the neighborhood "Felony Flats". From the roving drug gangs tagging everything that isn't moving to the neighborhood meth labs attracting tweakers, there are a lot of "undesirables" roaming around. My Spyder is an investment, soon to be my main form of transportation, and something I am going to owe a lot of money on for a long time. Yes, I have good insurance, but I would like to have at least a chance to ward off those who are less than serious about stealing it.

I do not disagree with those who think I am crazy for wanting an alarm. I just want to show that I live in an area in which an alarm may be beneficial.

I certainly don't think you should have to defend yourself or your decision. If I was in your situation, I would think hard about an alarm system myself. There are all kinds of reasons for alarm systems...to prevent overly curious approaches, to discourage vandalism, and to help deter theft of parts or vehicles. All are valid in some situations. Heck, if it only gives you peace of mind and an extra hour's sleep each night, it is money well spent. If you can avoid the hassle and delays of submitting an insurance claim, you are always better off. If the alarm system reduces the likelihood of theft or damage by any significant amount, that's good, too. If you feel the need, install one with a clean conscience. :thumbup:

I do think he should have to defend himself...and in this case, his Spyder as well....

If you are gonna go to lengths to protect your Spyder, you might want to get the alarm (not sure if the talon does this) that pages you if the alarm goes off...I know some here went to that length to defend the bike, but if you're gonna get the most bang for your buck, knowing exactly when something is happening might give you extra peace of mind...as you are aware, alarms go off all the time...nobody even looks anymore...at least the Spyder has a good security system so that the bike cannot be started without the chipped key! This alone is good protection, but keeping people away from the bike will certainly be better in your case...

In theory it should work no matter which sequence you install it. Both function to complete a circuit. I believe the TP (Triple Play) complete the circuit when the brake is applied. So when the alarm blink, it will blink the TP.

Just make sure all grounds are grounds. Or you will pop a fuse easily.

GPS America out of Langhorne PA is an outfit that does "tracking" for big companies. I contacted them and they sent me the attached proposal.

Bottom line: For $275, you get a chip that, if you Spyder is stolen, they can locate within 7 secs. No monthly charges once you buy the chip

You also have a "lease" option...cost varies depending upon length of lease.

This may be old news ... sorry if it is a repeat, but I have recently ordered two items, I got both installed, but in both cases you refer to the Spyder's Owner Manual on how to remove certain items. They must have changed the Owner's Manual around some as in every circumstance the pages I was referred to in your instructions were wrong.
