• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I currently own an 09 GSM. Due to advancing arthritis and a disabled foot, I am having a hard time riding the GS. I have put a lot of mods on it trying to turn it into an RT. Ain't happening. So, I am RT shopping, which brings me to my question.

This is not a slam on any dealer. I deal with 2 dealers. Broward Motorsports in West Palm Beach where I have my service done (about 15 miles from home) and Central Florida Powersports in Kissimmee where I bought my GS (about 150 miles north of me). Both dealers are great with a small problem with West Palm Beach sales when I was looking for the GS. But that's water under the bridge.

Anyhow, last Saturday I was on my way to Leesburg to visit relatives. I stopped into Central Florida to look at an RT. They must have had at least 15 RT's of all colors plus countless RS. I test drove a new RT-SE and OMG (sorry, I was 16 again for a minute) I am in love. What a fantastic machine. Now one week later (today) I go into Broward in West Palm and they have 1 (ONE) RT that is sold and 1 (ONE) RS. I asked him when more were coming and he said they usually get about 2 a month and they have a waiting list.

So my question is why? One dealer has 25 to 30 :spyder2: and the other has 2. Is it bad managment on the local dealer not to order more, could he possibly not afford the floorplan charges, or is BRP the culpret? It really doesn't matter to me, I'll drive the 150 miles to get my new :spyder2:, just curious. If you have a high demand, shouldn't you be ordering more? Inquiring minds...
 
Don't know the reason why some get them and some don't. I traveled down to Central Florida PS to get my 2011 RTS SE-5 from Cantonment, FL. Over all the trip was just over 1000 miles round trip

I don't have a good answer. But the dealer with all the bikes will most likely deal--they have floor plan interest to pay.

I would not wait, nor would I go on a waiting list when I can walk in the door someplace else and get the one I want now.

You will not be disappointed with the RT's. I had one of the early 2008 GS and spent over
$5K turning it into a tourer--before the RT's were out. I still ended up buying the RTS and have not had any buyer's remorse whatsoever.

In the world of vehicle sales you get allocations based on sales history.. Central Florida Powersports is the largest sales dealer in the Southeastern US therefore they get more bikes in. Their service doesn't thrill me but they are very hard to beat on price.. I had prices from six dealers when I bought my RTS and they were the best by $2000
 
Why not give your 2 dealers the info on where these bikes are and see if they'll call to get one for you... If they want your business they'll find a way to get you the bike! :thumbup:
 
I live in small town with only one small dealer. They get only about 5 Rt's and 3 RS's a year even though they had sold about 20 units. The extra 12 came from other dealers as trades. My dealer only gets credit for the original 9 that were shipped by BRP to them. The good news is that I was able to get my RS locally at my dealer when he found one at another dealer 200 miles away and had it shipped to his Dealership. He still gave me a good discount on the bike and only asked for actual shipping cost (gas for his truck to haul the bike).
Work with your local dealer, support them and build up a positive relationship. It pays in the long run.
