Question about 2014 base ST SE5 model

Does anyone know if the 2014 base ST's standard rider footpegs can be replaced with the 2014 factory rider footboards?

I see in the accesory catalog that rider footboards are available fo the 14 RT, but don't see anything for the ST.

Surely one can get them from BRP parts dept, right?

Finally, if I don't plan on frequent long trips, how much would I regret not having the cruise control if I opt for the base model over the ST-S for financial reasons.

There is no option for floor boards for the SE that you can buy as an accessory like you can on the RT that I know of and if you could it would be for the SE only just like the RT boards are only for the SE.

What if the footboards were damaged or ripped off an ST-S SE5 if you "bottomed out" or had a small crash?

The repair shop would replace them, right?

So would I be able to get the factory original footboards for an ST-S SE5, like a repair shop would, then mount them on a ST base SE5.

You will probably want the cruise control. I ended up putting cruise control on my wife's 2009 GS this summer because it made cruising so much more enjoyable for her. Spend the extra bucks now and get the STS or pay more later.nojoke

Agreed get the cruise and maybe on the STS the floor boards may be more adaptable.

Not an ST owner--but cruise control is a nice option. I would not be without it for long drives.

I went with the ST-S love it. rode down to Tampa last weekend from Sweet Home Alabama just a day ride and the cruise control really does help.:thumbup:

I don't see why the parts couldn't be bought later and added. However, I bet your not going to be happy with what it costs to do it.

There's some added hardware for the braking that allows the board to breakaway if you get low brake pressure. I'm not sure if that hardware is there on the base model. :dontknow:

Get the STS

If you are planning on adding the foot boards and possibly cruise control I would just get the STS you will probably save money overall.

I find the Throttle Meister manual cruise control on my 08 GS works better for me if there's any traffic around, rather than having to reset it every time you hit the brake, and then it falls on it's face for a moment if you don't have the gas on. My STS has trouble getting it to "set" also, something is amiss there.
