• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Question 2014 Radio.

On the 2013s equipped with a radio, it has a very irritating problem. When you turn off the ignition key and have to turn it back on right away (for example forgetting to set the parking brake), you blow out some of the audio settings, back to default. It affects Auto volume control every time. Bass, Treble and other settings sometimes.

I was wondering if this problem has been fixed for 2014?

Never noticed this on my '13 RT. I'll have to check it out. Are you saying if you leave the key off for several seconds before turning it back on the settings aren't affected?

I am not sure how long you have to wait. In normal use it will retain the settings.

Go ahead and try it. If yours does not do it that would be an interesting result.

In the words of Schultz, "Veeerrryy interestingggg." I just tried it and all the settings stayed put. Turned off and back on several times and then checked settings and all were OK. I then turned off, turned on, set the brake, then back off, then on and checked settings. Still OK. Did the off/on sequence one time before the first brake beep finished, and then after one and two beeps. Always the settings were OK.

Maybe you're swearing :cus: at Nanny when you notice you didn't set the brake and she's retaliating! Suppose? :roflblack::roflblack:

Just had a chance to try and mess up the radio...
...and failed! :D
It held it's settings, and is happily playing!

My 2011 and my 2014 do this, but not sure what causes it. I can disconnect the battery and everything is there but every so often it resets the audio settings go default. Mine would happen every few weeks on the 11 but only once so far on the 14. I have reported it to my dealer and my dealer to Canam but seems its not important enough to garner a response or investigation.

Ok I finally got my Spyder put back together and went for a test drive. When I came back I tried to blow out my audio settings. I can can make them go to default every time.
Turn the key off.
Turn the key on.
Turn the key off.
That is exactly what you would do if you if you forgot to set the parking brake.
The next time you turn the key on the settings are gone.

It was well discussed in this thread. http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/...eset-saved-audio-radio-settings-over-amp-over

video

Here is a video
Start of video the radio station is displayed on the main screen. At the end the it is gone and I have to go into preferences to get it back.

I didn't realize, or had forgotten, the radio display was available on the main screen, so I checked it out yesterday. Sure enough, the rapid key off/on sequence kills that setting. That's probably why I haven't ever seen the display! There's definitely a memory retention problem there somewhere.

And just think, the Spyders are far too young for that to be excusable, contrary to us time experienced riders! :roflblack:

Since bluestratos is familiar with the problem on his 2011 and says it has happened to him on his 2014, I would tend to think it still has not been fixed.

I know it is not a serious problem, but I think it maybe a solvable one.

I have sent an email to BRP explaining the problem. In it I asked if they knew the problem existed? If yes have they looked for a solution? If yes again is there a solution available? Unfortunately I received a boilerplate response to take it to my dealer.

I have had the problem with the "show radio station" setting going back to default several times. I also have had problems of shutting the key off before putting on the parking brake. Never connected the two in my mind before. Thanks for pointing this out.
