Pros and Cons to have the Akrapovic exhaust on 2014 RT Ltd SE6?

Hi Gang, hope you are all doing great and enjoying some riding. Have a quick one here, is it worth it to have the BRP Akrapovic exhaust on a 2014 RT Ltd SE6? What are the advantages and disadvantages? Dealer told me that besides a better sound and less weight, would give better engine displacement or something like that....Any opinions, advice or similar would be greatly appreciate it. ....And probably real performance improvement get the " CAT DELETE " FROM Lenny at Pitbull ..........It will also save a lot more weight by removing the catalytic converter ....that thing weighs a TON.........JMHO........Mike :thumbup:

It'll change the exhaust sound emanating from the bike... if you don't like the current sound; this could be desireable to you.
A bit less weight, is never a bad thing! :thumbup:

The only way to change displacement is to change the engine. There are a lot of pros and cons on the Akrapovic. You need to make the choice. The price tag is a bit much in my opinion.

:agree: I had a Yoshimura R77 on my 2010 RT, but they don't make one for the 1330 (yet?). The Yosh set me back just under $400 - I would put it on with the Cat delete, were it available. Since it's not, I'll leave it stock, for now. Like most accessories offered by BRP, I would never pay the price asked for an Akrapovic - not enough bang for my buck.....

I had one on my 2011 and was very surprised to find out there was a very small performance increase. Hardly noticeable but it was a bit snappier in the mid range. the sound was different but not louder so I liked that. I followed with the cat delete but that is a waste of money unless you want obnoxious noise while you ride. I wrapped the pipes but no change and no change in heat to speak off either. With the cat and the muffler I had popping that was also annoying. I then bought the air cleaner.. even more noise and no power change so I spent another $1,000 on a fuel controller and accessories but it caused the bike to throw codes so out it all came except the muffler.

After before and after timed runs I had not improved more than a fraction of a second 0-60. I know some people get better results then I did but from my experience... don't waste the money, the engine is set up the best it can be by the computer. You will like the muffler but don't expect miracles.

I have the Akrapovic Sport on my 2013 ST-Limited along with the CAT Delete, Sounds much better but I got a good deal on a demo exhaust that was on a 2014 RSS and saved $300, not sure I would get it for the full price so shop around, you can see it in my signature pic, it does look a lot better on the bike.

On my list (in no particular order):
- change the pitch and loudness of the spyder.
- cat delete
- different air intake to improve air-flow
- 3/4 body wrap of Stars & Stripes
- Highway pegs
- good seat that doesnt cost one (or 2!) of the legs I need to ride

Granted it wasn't cheap but I have the cat delete and the akrapovic exhaust on my 2014. I love the sound. For the first time my Spyder sounds like a motorcycle . The performance improved as well both in terms of acceleration and mileage

Tinkering with the exhaust system won't automatically void a warranty...
IF and only if; you had a problem on the bike, which affected a system that is directly affected by the exhaust... THEN you'll have a problem. :yikes:
Here's the deal...
What's the most expensive system on the bike?
Probably the engine
What is directly attached to the exhaust system, that BRP might start screaming about, should a problem occur? :shocked:

PLUS, he lives in Mexico. If he lived in the Peoples Republic of California, the penalty for messing with the exhaust is steep. I'm sure that's true in other states as well (not here tho !!)

Thanks to all for your opinion, I think that it would be worth it on my case IF I could take the CAT out but knowing the dealers here I doubt that would like to do it and I have no other shops that could do it. Unfortunately in México are very few dealers PLUS NOT all of them :banghead: know what they are doing. Most of them know about the Can Am/BRP ATV´s but when it comes to Spyders very but very few know about it SO I am SOL. Glad to take more advice/opinions please.....Have a great weekend!!!

Well I have had my on the bike now for the last 35,000 miles.my fuel milage got better and the sound in really nice, I pull my rt622 loaded down to 500 lbs and still get 200 miles out of tank running 65 mph. Its all up to you what you want to have on it. So? Good luck. Ps. I still have my cat on due to the bike needs some back press on the system. Not free flow... So to me I love it.
