• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Power range.

I do have one problem with the Spyder. The last two bikes I have owned had their redlines at around 8K and 6.5K and both made reasonable power down low. In 500 miles I have yet to come near red line on the Rotax!

I am not scared of speed but for the most part there is just not enough room around here to get into the power band of the Rotax. I pulled out of Nvve Federal CU on to US 98 shifting around 6 grand to match the 45mph speed limit and not get run over by the rest of the traffic doing about 60.

Three shifts, about 3.5 sec. and I was up to just under 50. No tire smoke or even traction noise, just a mild bark from the stock pipe and I was gone. The resident parking lot Deputy pulled out, caught up with me, and followed me for five miles and six turns.

So far my best tank (35 mpg) was the one run mostly on some country roads where I was up and down the first four gears and kept the tach in the 3500 to 5000 range. Not as many stop and go as around town but a lot of acceleration and deacceleration.

T:2thumbs:hanks to quick service by the Magic Man I rode to dialysis behind the 23-1/2" CalSi this morning. With just the unlined Levi jacket and light trousers the 59F felt great! Now I can get out on the interstate and enjoy some legal limit runs to see how Iktome drinks on the road. I have an idea that a 70mph run to the new Bass Pro Shop over on Mobile Bay will give me my best mileage yet!

Don't feel bad. I seldom even approach a redline on any bike but my old race bike. As long as there is enough torque down low to do what I need, I stay there. I doubt I have hit full throtlle on many, either. Certainly not on the two modern ones, or even my Bonneville...at least in quite a while. Maybe I am just getting old, maybe I went fast enough long ago to satisfy the need. It just doesn't seem to matter anymore. Enjoy the Ryde!
