Power commander

Well just came from the dealer, the new power commander that they install in my 2013 ST is coming out, my check engine warning keeps coming on, they contact BRP and right now they have few law suits going on, because of void it warranties, because the power commander is messing up the engine, So is out.

They do not have the correct mapping for the 2013 machines, they are going with the 2011 and 12 mapping....:banghead: and is not working.:banghead::banghead::banghead:

Is your ST running lean? mine is and we did a flash on the ECM but still running lean.....this causes more heat...don't need more heat...thanks I was considering going Power Commander

My dealer told me it was running lean, they did something and is better now, also they told me to wait for the power commander for few month, by then it should be a better mapping for our ST'S

I think it's too early

As we all know this model is new, I too wanted to get a pc , a couple of dealers advised against it . Many are saying to wait bout a year before going into buying performance parts .

now i have been working with the power commander on an RT's and they were Powercommander V (Fuel and Ignition) with AutoTune (Dual Channel) and what i have found out playing with them is when first installed Both Spyder RT's where getting "error codes saying "the front cylinder to lean" but all we had to do was to take it for a long ride at least 20 miles then come back and do an "accept all trims" in the "map tool menu". Now it will take several times of doing this to get the map tuned up so you will need a computer to do this. :doorag: I would also contact Power Commander there technical support is very good they help me out several times.

The PC V and AutoTune add up to $900. Is all this really necessary to tune out the overly lean mixture and make the bike run right with an aftermarket (off road) exhaust ? Would not the PC V alone be enough? Just seems awful expensive.

That is sort of like asking why did you add the BajaRon sway bar and shock relocators? Wasn't it handling okay before you did this?

I'm not real familiar with these units, but I was under the impression that they hadn't released one for the 2013 models yet... :shocked:

Power Commander web site now shows a listing for the 2013 RT/RTS and has map files available too. Will be interesting to see how folks get on with these and get the bugs worked out. But nice to see progress. 'Fixing' the exhaust and the overly lean mixture along with wrapping the down pipe will go a LONG way to alleviating the heat problems in the engine bay. As is usual, leave things to the aftermarket to find complete solutions. Then again, Dynojet has product to sell, BRP already sold theirs.
