• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Power and Economy

Roger, In my opinion, there's no real accurate way to compare the Spyder;s handling to anything else on the road... Thus the current marketing campaign! :D Your snowmobile analogy is probably the most correct and I often add ATVs to that short list as well... even though they are both off-road vehicles!
Rodney, Big torque numbers... Don't you think that H.D and Honda have kept bumping dispacement on their "horizon finders" in order to attain this? We're playing with "only one litre's worth of engine while the others have much larger displacements... Give BRP some time and they'll work it all out. :D

I HAD one of those kits! :2thumbs: 1967 Olympic...:D Yep Bombardeer; How long did it take them to give up and simply switch to "BRP"? (Burp?)
I too have no problem with a litre's worth of Vee-twin...
...and my "ttunk is open!" light still works!

I for one and damn happy BRP/Can Am concentrated on the three wheeled design vs. another half baked wannabee trike conversion. As far as I am concerned they tactfully and successfully went in a direction that no other company R&D team could get approval to do. Bravo to BRP and to those that had been willing to go for broke on this project. :2thumbs::clap:

Bravo to them as well for using the engine with a proven track record vs. what so many other manufacturers of the past have done (Bringing out their own design). As this reduced the repair and design/re-designs that so many before them have gone through.

That said. I call hogwash. Bring me a Rotax 1148cc and I will be right there with $$ in hand to go all in. I do not care if it is short/medium/long/extra anything. Give me 35 miles per gallon and 125hp/135 torque on an RT. I am good (Giggles like a small child on xmas morning)...:ohyea:   :firstplace:

Increasing compression and/or bore and altering cam profiles will also have a profound effect. I believe the RT runs a higher compression ratio than the original RS configuration to accomplish this. I do agree that the current torque output is not what one would consider ideal for a heavy, 2-up, trailer pulling, tourer. It seems that BRP has made it work pretty good, though.
:agree: But it ain't bad... (They increased compression in the 991 is why they want us to pour 91 octane down the filler spout... :gaah:)

:agree: You are right. BRP has built us a great bike and they will make it better in time. In the mean time I will enjoy the RT as it is.:2thumbs:

So Nice to Be Simple Minded

Phew tried following this and realized I really don't give a flying :spyder2: about that. When I bought my RT it was as I live my life: have no expectations from things/people I have relationships with...if "something" happens and it hiccups then I find a solution for that.
Wow I just totally enjoy ryding, washing, servicing AND mostly meeting Spyder LOVERS.
For me my brain is aching from trying to follow this thread...so :dontknow: guess that calls for a Spyder Ryde..and the sun is shining!!! Formula for a great day ryding.
Everyone enjoy your Spyder...that's why you bought it (I hope)...
