• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Powder Coated Corbin Brackets

Fiberglass work is great. Brackets are functional. Bracket painting is deplorable. I called them to ask if they had a powder coating option. They do not. So when my saddlebags arrived I found bare spots on the brackets, wet paint, and fingerprints imbedded here and there. Took it to a local powder-coating shop and the results are marvelous (I chose the black satin finish).

Mounting the brackets as they came from Corbin would surely have resulted in rusting problems within weeks. Based on the mounted location of the saddlebag brackets, I'm assuming they're going to be exposed to lots of flying debris from numerous sources. Hopefully the powder-coating will withstand the punishment better than the childishly-applied Corbin paint. So hopefully the only things that are going to rust right-off will be the hardware (bolts, nuts, washers, etc.).

It is deplorable that something so expensive should have bare spots and fingerprints in the paint. Corbin doesn't seem to be interested in true customer service or value anymore. It's too bad they have some otherwise nice, and unique, accessories. If people stopped buying, maybe they would clean up their act. My opinion, of course, which counts for nothing.

I agree, Scotty. I tried to back out of my first order from Corbin (the fairing/windshield) due to its ineffectiveness and poor-quality bracket paint job but they would not allow a refund. The best I could do was trade it in on a more expensive item (the saddlebags). So I already knew what a lackluster paint job the saddlebag bracketry was going to have on it ... and I wasn't disappointed (well... you know what I mean). The whole affair (including the $150 for the powder coating) serves as a valuable (albeit expensive) lesson learned. But it's tough for me as I am an impulse buyer. I have to learn to fight the impulse and research the potential purchase (on this forum) before plunking down the $. I could have gotten more bang for my powder-coating buck had I known that they (Performance Powder Coating) have a minimum sales amount ($150). I could have thrown other bracketry (or whatever) in the box and paid nothing extra. There's that darned impulse-purchase thing again. But the brackets do look top-notch. I kind of hate to hide them behind the saddlebags!
