• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

polaris-victory

Wow...!!wow

Looks like a rough ending to all those that made the Victory what it was. Probably not the end of the story :dontknow:

Wow.....as a long term Victory rider, I was disappointed that the line was ending, but could understand the reasons. I certainly can not understand the apparent Polaris attitude to their dealer franchises though. Polaris are NOT doing it super tough at the moment.

Good information to file away for the future. The customers are also the ones hurt. In these situations, there are no winners.

I don't have a dog in this fight as I am not a customer of either Polaris, Victory or Indian but we must remember this about going into business and into a well-established market where there is and has been a very strong owner; Harley-Davidson.

Like Harley or not, and I do not, they have been very successful for many years selling the notion of lifestyle on their largely antiquated and overpriced machines. Until their unique demographic gets too old to ride or dies off altogether it will remain thus. Competing in this market means you have to offer something unique to the folks who have bought into Harley's "aura". Indian brings its history which is not that impressive. Victory brought nothing but styling differences which is something that practically no one else can compete with HD on.

Therefore, it is not a surprise to me that Victory has folded and Indian remains a niche product. The fact that the vast majority of HD owners buy into ownership as something unique, even though it isn't, and will support HD no matter what, well, except for the water-cooled bikes, means there is not room for a competitor in that marketplace.

I feel sorry for the franchise holders who will lose their investment as this realization becomes apparent but they should have seen this long, long ago.

Motorcycles

I stopped in a HD dealership today. They killed the Dyna. Which means they are not selling. All they have is touring, softail, and sporty. No dyna, no vrod. Sales are down. All across the industry. Young people don't want to ride!

No Dyna and no Vrod? Those are about the only ones I liked! I owned the Dyna Defender police bike in my LEO days and it served me well. Oh Well.

Well said. I like Spyders particularly because they represent a complete departure from the H-D culture.

So Polaris is treating their Victory Dealers like a bunch of red-headed step-children...
What's new about that?,
Do you think that we should worry about it? :dontknow:

And just to balance the argument somewhat I have noticed the same "if it's not my choice it sucks" arrogance in other makes and models as well. Harley gets crimped for being the most visible but it is far from the only one.

Try riding with a bunch of BMW riders some time and you will see what I mean. Likewise the crotchrockateer set.
