Hello Bikers and Habitat for Humanity Supporters:
Save the date - April 30, 2016. It's the last Saturday in April and time for Greater Fredericksburg Habitat for Humanity's 9th annual RIDE VIRGINIA Poker Run. This year we will start at the GFHFH ReStore, 2376 Plank Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22401, by Gold's Gym. Our end stop will be at Cowboy Jacks, 2310 Plank Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22401, across the parking lot from the GFHFH ReStore.
On 4/30, registration will start at 9:00 am with the last bike in by 1:30 pm for the poker hand to be counted for best/worst hand. About 2:00 pm we'll start giving away prizes. The prize for the best hand AND the worst hand is $250 each. Last year we gave away over $3,500 in prizes. We will also have the 50/50 raffle again - last year's winner won a pot of about $800 and this year's pot should be larger.
We're still working on the route but it will go through historic Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Stafford and King George. We will try to take the route by some existing Habitat homes so you can see the finished product and we will try to stop at a Habitat home build or repair site where you can see a Habitat home or repair under way. You'll see some beautiful country riding on the route through this historic area.
The registration fee is still $25 for the rider and $20 for the playing passenger. Each pre-registered participant is guaranteed a poker hand, Ride T-shirt, Ride patch and/or bar, ticket for a meal at Cowboy Jacks, Goodie bag and door prize drawing entry. People who register on Ride Day will receive these items as long as our supply lasts.
You can register online by going to our website at http://www.fredhab.org/site/pokerrun/. This is a "rain or shine" event. However, if you don't like the weather you can draw and play your hand at the GFHFH ReStore or Cowboy Jacks. If you need a T-shirt size larger than 2X, you should register online so we are able to order the T-shirt and have it for you on the day of the Ride.
