There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Today, the DOT is opening a 100 mile stretch of toll road from Seguin to Georgetown. This will be a toll road in two weeks, until then, it is free. It has a 85 mph speed limit. Join me in riding from Seguin to G'town and back. I do suggest that we stay in the right lane as some may exceed this speed as they do on IH10W out of Kerrville to El Paso which is presently 80 and rumored to go to 85 soon.....yeee haaaaa

:gaah: :yikes:  :roflblack:   :joke: (I ain't goin' out there with those crazies!) :joke:

Those that love to travel fast will surely like the roads. Are they upping the speed limit on selected roads or will there be a lot of interstate at that speed?

I just returned from a trip, much of it in Texas. Most Interstate highways were 75 now, only the one from K'ville is 80 that I know of. This toll road is straight...and 85....not sure of the others, but don't think they are that fast. That IH10W is a fine road, smooth and streight to El Paso. One of the few good road left around. IH35 south of Dallas to Georgetown, where I turn west to avoid Georgetown and Austin, is a tank trap. BAD!!

We don't have any speed restrictions in MA, they post what I can only determine are magical speed signs.

To best of my knowledge while driving around MA these signs are not noticeable by muggles.

George, last year, when riding I-20 from Ft Worth to Midland/Odessa, we rode a stretch of 80 MPH Interstate. This would have been the Saturday before your Texas Trike Reunion started. This would have been about 19 months ago.

Do you have date in mind to run the Toll Road?

No, I will if I have time to drive the 80 miles to get to the start. However, I see now, it is only 41 miles of toll free road, the rest is toll.....so I am loosing interest. I go up to Kerrville once in a while and ride the 80 mph while going to lunch at Junction. Ha ha, at 80 ya gotta stay in the right lane or the gentlemen with the red necks will run you down.

I live close to IH10W and was gassing up the other day. I complimented an eighteen wheeler on his beautiful (expensive) truck. When talking about the 80 mph, he laughed and said he was coming off a hill and hit 103, saying "that CAT was really smoking"! I laughed and said to my self, "self, that is why you stay in the right lane."

Mark, yes, there are more 80 mph IH as you point out. DOT changed those limits to 80 at the same time. Two months ago, they changed the limit on my closeby IH to 75.

To tell the truth, my sweet spot on BR1 is 70 and 72 on my Wing.

In Texas, they have several of the newer Interstates, with few towns @ 80, most of the rest is now 75 and some of the tank traps are still at 70. This toll road is the fastest in the U.S. now. They say more may follow. Last week, I went through Arkansas, Missouri and Illinois. Everything was 70 or 75 until we got to Illinois, which is 65. I don't know what the western states, NM, AZ, OK, KS, CO...are. What are the top limits out there?

I was watching the news a week or so ago when they announced the opening of that toll road. They said it was the highest current speed limit in north america!

Yes, they say it is the only 85 mph road in the U.S., maybe North America....I don't know.

TOLL ROAD

Thank Gov Rick Perry to have a spanish consortium build a Toll Road..he wanted to build toll roads north and south and east and west across texas but that got stopped. I road it home from my dealer in Georgetown to 71 and it's nice! Sure beats urban warfare on I35. Haven't looked at my TxTag bill but I think they charge me the same as in a 4 wheeler. they oughta let us ride free! I mean don't they know who we think we are?

Fastest in the nation

I just saw on the local news that the 85mph speed limit is the fastest in the nation. The only catch is that officers won't give that extra 5mph grace speed that we get on normal highways. I guess 85 is fast enough. They say the whole 90 mile stretch will cost about $12. Not sure if the 90 miles they spoke of is the whole toll area.

My wife and I were over in that area a few months back in the mustang GT...and the speed limit was 85 most of the way. Then we get close to houston and the limit drops to 55 and 60...which feels like you are going backwards after doing 85.

They are very nice roads. Running 85 in the right lane, people were still passing us like we were sitting still.

As said earlier, they opend the south portion of IH130. This mornings news said the Highway Patrol clocked a car at 91. A reporter said she was driving 85 and was passed several times.... IH10E from San Antonio to Houston is now 75 most of the way. It slows as you near Houston. The prices vary per size of vehicle and if you buy a "tag" or pay by mail. There are no toll booths, they photo your license and bill you if you do not pre pay with a "tag". With a tag, an auto is $6.17, without $8.21. I don't know if this is for the whole 100 miles or just the new section of 41 miles. A motorhome is $18.43/22.17.
