• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Took my son and his girlfriend out for some Spyder training today. First time on a motorcycle of any kind for Jennifer. Stephen has ridden 4 wheelers.

First - A little Pre-Flight Instruction. MAN! Got to do something about that GUT! Where did that come from?

Then, some In-Flight training....

Then it was time for a Solo flight!

Nice thing to do, I'm sure it will be one of those things that your son will talk about with his own kids some day.

As for the gut, you need to be sure in the future that you know when someone is snapping a picture so you can suck it in, and try not to stand profile if you can help it. Oh, and black is very "thinning" - I know this because I wore black for 36 years.;)

It was a good time.

But as for the gut, I just need to lose it and then it won't matter. Black does sound a lot easier though!

Ron do not worry about your gut you are in shape round is a shape.:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Good job Baja! :2thumbs: Nice thing to do for the kids. And I wouldn't worry about the gut. You can get rid of that. I'm working on mine right now!! :D

:thumbup:Hey Ron, that's great stuff. Looks like you all had a fun time and you I am sure you are a good teacher.

Thanks for sharing.

Very cool, I'm sure they loved that you took the time to do that. You're a good guy. :2thumbs:

Ron you are on the right track about the gut .now that you are teaching the kids to drive the spider they can go with lamont to the BBQ place down the street insted of you this should cut down some inches off you .
one other thing don't forget to send the money with them:roflblack:

Yes, the GUT has got to go! :yikes:

I've been working on it for some time. I have a friend that says it's my biggest investment!

So how about some kind of friendly challange between us. I am ashamed to say I need some incentive. Getting healthy should be enough but somehow it isn't.

RePops is also working on his. I need to join those going the right direction on this.

It was a great time! They both said they didn't need to wear a helmet in this abandonded Wal-Mart parking lot. But I said, no helmet, no ride. You've got to start early on that stuff.

Jennifer wanted to ride with flip-flops! Not happening.

They both loved it (after they got over the grumply old man rules I laid down).

I can see some future riders for sure!

How is your Newfoundland riding going? Must be lonely there with no other Spyders to ride with.

Good stuff, Ron, I have no doubt you are starting them on the right/safe path.

I help teach a two wheel motorcycle course here in the city from time to time (the basics: starting/stopping, balance, slow speed manoeuvres, shifting head/shoulder checks, etc..., and upto counter steering and emergency braking techniques), and we roll the same way... Safety first. You'd be a perfect fit here, Ron !!

Well, there is another Spyder in the city which I see occasionally, in fact we've recently started connecting on a regular basis, which has been really neat. Cool guy, he has a red 2009 SE5.

Other then my usual solo ryding (daily commuting and grocery runs) and the occasionally long St. John's Spyder parade (consisting of just two spyders, haha), I do a good bit of two-up ryding with my gf, so, I'm always on the go. But nothing like ryding in Magog and Shrebrooke with you guys.

Cheers,
Dean

Thanks for the good words. Not sure I'd fit in Newfoundland (I don't speak French) but then I think they speak English there, for the most part, so maybe it would work.

I taught fire fighting for several years. No one likes the safety stuff until you need it. Then it's ALWAYS too late. While fighting fires is not safe, neither is riding a motorcycle. But when you get right down to it, life is not safe. It all has to be balanced as best you can.

Glad you have at least 1 other Spyder to ride with. That's pretty much how it is around here. Lamont and I. We rarely see another Spyder, though I know there are a few around.

As for the trip to Magog....That was just a short hop warmup for bigger and better things. The ferry sounds like a bummer and not too much way around that. Guess it comes with the territory when you live on an Island!

You still owe me pictures of the ferry....

That's what I was thinking...too much BBQ :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:
I know when you point a finger at someone you have 3 pointing back at yourself....that's why I'm not going to post a recent pic of myself :roflblack::roflblack:

Thanks for giving me an idea to bond with my kids. They seem to like and have more affection for the Spyder more than they ever did the M109R. It is just a matter of getting their gear before I start the teaching process. Good job, Sir and thanks.

Your on!! I'm the same way in that I need some incentive on this one! I'm afraid I have waaay more to get rid of than you so this is great motivation! Let's do this together man! :2thumbs:

I suppose I will have to submit a picture of myself or something like that. I will submit a warning now, however, this is not going to be pretty!! :roflblack:

I guess we need to start a new thread/challenge. Spyderlover Heavyweights! Note: Docdoru is not eligible :roflblack: but a few other Huligans are! :roflblack::roflblack: "Lose the Gut" contest! Everyone that enters needs a before and after pic and puts $10 in the pot. Money is donated to winners favorite (legitimate) charity Only those that enter has a vote who wins the contest. Just a suggestion or something to motivate us "heavyweights to shed some lbs.

Ron, don't worry about the GUT, if you're like me, you've got an awful lot invested in it!:joke:
