• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Parking flasher indicators on dash dimming when in reverse gear - any ideas? Fixes?

Yep mine do that too sometimes. And sometimes not. Same with MPH and RPM indicators below "analog" gauges. Different every ride: both, only one, none, whatever. Years are taking their toll.

Tony, both this problem and the problem you raised in your other thread about flashers here:

https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums...t-off-slow-then-speed-up!-Any-ideas-why-Fixes

could well be due to poor battery capacity &/or state of charge; or a poor ground somewhere...

So how old is your battery, do you know? Has it been properly charged lately (on a proper charger &/or at least 8 hours on a tender/maintainer, not just left on a tender... ) &/or have you done any 30+ minute runs at a reasonable speed in the last week or so?? :dontknow:

It might be time to get your battery load tested, most battery places & many service centers will do that for free - but do be aware that due to how power hungry our Spyders are, the 'normally accepted as OK' momentary flash under starting load level of anything down as low as 10.5v is NOT ACCEPTABLE for our Spyders!! :banghead:

If your Spyder battery EVER drops below 12v, especially while cranking and trying to start the engine AND all the computers at the same time, then you're likely to see this sort of thing, usually fairly rapidly followed by an increasing cascade of failures; like a blank screen/dash &/or multiple warning lights, maybe a bunch of codes, limp home mode; and eventually, stopping/failing to start and leaving you with no way start it, not even when you try to jump start it! :lecturef_smilie:

And be warned, the current crop of BRP/dealer supplied batteries may not be up to the task even if they are brand new & fully charged! :cus: Any replacement battery needs not only to fit into the little hole & space/shape available, but it also needs at least 350 CCA & 21 A/hr capacity, and it needs to be properly prepared & charged for at least 8 hours on a proper charger too, not just be given a quick top-up/surface charge on a tender before it's installed! The proper preparation for 'bottle filled' AGM batteries, where you add the electrolyte to the absorbed glass mat before sealing the battery, REQUIRES that you add the electrolyte then leave the battery standing for a suitable time (it might even be some hours, but I'm sure someone here has the specific number & will correct me on that... ;) ) before being properly charged, which also takes some hours; all prior to installation!! So simply rocking up to a battery outlet & having them immediately fit a new battery & send you on your way suggests that none of that has happened; and if all that preparation and charging that's REQUIRED before installation ISN'T done, then you'll be back pretty soon, looking for another new battery! :banghead:

Just Sayin'

Thank you for taking time write such a detailed response. I watched the video and will try it tomorrow. Looks promising.

iSP -- if it ain't a feeble old battery then it's a feeble old Spyder. And we feeble oldsters keep running even if our lights ain't as bright as before.:2thumbs:
