• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Parking brake problem

My parking brake cable came off the front pulley on my 2011 rt. I understand this is a common problem. The dealer repaired it but they can't get the brake indicator light or the parking brake fault lights to go out. All checks out fine on the computer. Can anyone help?

Could be..!!

you need another dealer or tech checking. When hooked up to buds they can clear codes. Unless some sensor was damaged or misaligned once reinstalled you should be fine. There are a few threads on the subject you can search out here but they should also check with brp tech's...hope you get it cleared up...

If you operate the parking brake after the cable has come off it will damage the micro switch which sends the on/off signal to the computer/dash. I was able to repair mine and once it was working all was good again. I suspect the micro switch was damaged and they did not catch it. Its right below the round pulley that the cable rides on.
When the cable is off and the parking brake is turned off/on it allows the pulley to rotated to far around before stopping. When it is activated the second time the arm on the micro switch catches on a notch on the pulley and bends backward.

Thank you. Now if I can figure out how to get the mirror off I'll take a look at it. I'm following the mirror removal instructions but having no success.

The mirror pops off easily, take the palm of your hand and smack the bottom of the mirror upwards near the extreme outside edge. Hold near the bike with you other hand so you can control it when it comes off and, give it a good firm whack and off it pops. Putting it back, line up the top pin and hook the mirror on it, then smack the end of the mirror this time and it pops back on. Some times I have to give it a second hit near one pin if they both do not snap in. If you spend more than a couple seconds you need more practice, lol.

Thank you! I got the mirror off and repaired the limit switch. The metal arm that contacts the switch was bent from the pulley rotating too far. Straightened it out and voila!

Really, though, your dealer should have been able to do this. I had the same problem last year and my dealer took care of it without any fuss.

I agree the dealer should have been able to fix this. Their long time mechanic is no longer with them and I had to settle for a newbie working on it. BRP needs to have some control over situations like this. Non factory trained people shouldn't be "tinkering" on such an expensive machine. Of course all BRP cares about is sales.
