Pants riding up in a fall

I wear JoeRocket, but it could be anybody's pants; what prevents them from riding up in an accident where you come off the bike. The JoeRockets have a velcro strap, which I don't think will prevent the pants from riding up. I'm sure that at least prevents the wind from moving them. Somebody wear something to keep the pant legs down in a fall. Or, is that something that you are not concerned with.

My only excursion off the bike was many years ago. At that time the leather jacket I was wearing slid up on my wrist. A few days later someone noticed red streaks on that arm from my wrist up to my elbow. He said it was blood poisoning and when it reached my heart I would die. I went to the emergency room and it was blood poisoning.

Well in cold weather you can try snowboard pants - they have an elastic leg inside of the actual pant leg. Or duck tape could work - plus it's reflective at night I bet!:2thumbs:

I guess I can always try the blousing straps (from my military days) in place of duct tape. And, you reminded me that the lining I removed from the JoeRocket pants had elastic at the bottom.

If the pants fit so loosely that they can ride up, this is a possibility, I suppose. Best cure is to wear tall boots...required by most racing organizations. Same situation exists for almost any protective gear that doesn't fit well, i.e. too loose, too short, wrong size, etc. From helmets to jackets to gloves to pants, they can all bite you if they don't fit. Buy accordingly. The most common problem of this nature is with the jacket riding up the back. Many jackets and pants have a zipper so they can be fastened together, but few people take the time to do it. For the most part these things are not a major concern...provided you are careful with the fit and wear at least ankle high boots. It is not usually the slide that damages a protected rider, but the sudden collision with a curb, bike, car, or phone pole. Not too much fun to go off high side and start to flip and roll, either.

At least with the Spyder, you will never be tempted to lay it down to avoid an accident. Sliding on your butt can lead to a serious assphalt wedgie.

Can't really predict the way I would fall (pants ride up, pants pull down) so hopefully the gear will just afford me some protection and improve the likelihood of survival.

Regarding wind and pantlegs, I bought these for my lovely bride when she became a deputy (superintendent!) just to be a wiseguy. They remind me of the little straps I used to have to keep my mittens from being lost:
