• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Painting of the Spyder

I was just curious. Those of you that have custom painted your spyder I was wondering what you guys paid to get it painted. I am checking around and getting different prices ranging from 1800-5000 bucks. I don't want nothing to elaborate. I was looking at a black cherry faded to a black. Its such a unique bike so I want to have a great paint job. I know you pay for what you get.

Well I can tell you that based on what you're looking for that $5K is a total rip-off. You should be able to get what you want for less than half that.... depending on what parts are getting painted.

It's right up there with AAA wanting to charge me over $100 to tow the Spyder 2 miles. I told them I would push it home first!

When you have friends in the Biz, it doesn't cost that much. Think I have less than $1000 into mine and that includes the Paint, Pinstripe and the Real Fire airbrush work.:ohyea:

Make sure you get someone that knows how to paint plastic !

If they don't use the proper paint and additives - your paint will eventually crack from expansion and shrinkage. A few people out here found this out the hard way.

Its a flex additive that needs to be mixed in with the paint.

Painting ideas

I see that you're in CO. Gunslinger in Golden seems to do good work. The Denver dealer has pre-painted parts hanging on the wall from them. They've also posted custom panels on ebay. If they're not too far from you then give a call see what they can do. Painting is a way down on my wish list for now.

For a candy color two tone, with hand painted pin stripes, the painter bid $3,600. However he promised he would keep track of the actual time and bill for his time plus materials. He bid it high, becuase he was concerned about the amount of time it would take to do all the small panels. The bill actually came out to $2,800. Worth every penny to me. By the way, I know there is absolutely no truth to it, but..... My claim is that BRP liked the looks of blue spyder so much, they followed my lead for the blue RT!:ohyea::roflblack:

I love BLACK CHERRY! My old Harley was that color w/ fleck in it!
