.. that I have ever owned - car or bike! And; that's just what I told my dealer yesterday.
I'm really glad I owned the '08 GS, '11 RS-S first, though. They were both wonderful Spyders.
But; this RT-S is something else! Three things really come to mind when I think about buying it. And, friends of mine mention one of them right away. "Greg: I didn't think you were ever going to buy the touring model." Oh yeah! I've heard that a few times! Believe me, I didn't think I ever would! I said that enough too, over my past 65,000 miles on Spyders!
The thing is; my RT-S really feels close to the way my others did in it's handling characterics. You do feel that extra size/weight. But; I am adjusting well to it. And, I haven't installed a beefier sway bar! A key to that is adjusting the air suspension appropriately.
When I am riding solo, I have been keeping it set to the firmest or second firmest setting most of the time.
The next thing that comes to mind is the sequential electronic transmission (SE5). Nope! I was never going to buy a Spyder with that! I like it! It's taking some getting used to, for sure. But; it is pretty sweet! Hey! If an electronic tranny is good enough for Ferrari & Lamborghini; why not!!?? Not to mention, the floorboards. Fantastic!
The sound system..... Number 3! I actually never cared about a stereo on a motorcycle. Nope! Now; here I am really enjoying the RT-S sound system. I love putting together a playlist on my MP3 player. And, I have the system set where the volume adjusts to the speed. So; when I'm sitting at a light, I'm not aggravating my fellow motorists.
The windshield is great! (never thought I would say that!!) I will always wear a modular helmet. But, now; I ride with the face shield up. Being able to adjust that windshield while moving is great!
So; Monday, my RT-S goes in for it's first service, and the installation of the Akrapovic exhaust, 25" vented windshield, Tri Axis adjustable bars, adjustable GPS mount, adjustable side deflectors, & Comfort seat. I also have the travel cover, and luggage to pick up.
I ordered a Garmin 665LM GPS. It just arrived a couple of days ago. The trailer, I think we will be getting the first of the year. It will be black.
As far as other mods go, maybe the Baja Ron Sway Bar, and a few LEDs. That will be about it. Oh! A K&N air filter, too.
Anyway; these are my thoughts for the first 3 weeks of owning a 2013 RT-S. My Wife loves it, too! That's putting it mildly.
