• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

or something like that. Left the :spyder2: sit too long after a trip without cleaning it. Washed, debugged and waxed today with ICE products but left with some stubborn spots. :gaah: Some bug splatter and maybe tree goop. Anyone have any magic formula for removal?

I would start out with a wet towel and lay it over the spots that are hard to remove for at least 30 minutes. Sometimes that will soften stuff up and it will come off relatively easily. Also avoids using harsh cleaners that strip off the wax.

The wet towel thing usually does a good job. You can also use Original Bike Spirits, which comes in a black and pink spray can, and it will easily remove the tougher stuff without hurting the finish at all.

I really believe in the soak with a wet towel method but there are places like the front grill on the RT that are vertical and just about impossible to get a wet towel to adhere to. Anyone have a solution for that?

I also believe in Original Bike Spirits but I have found a few bug spots that Original Bike Spirits won't touch. The grasshoppers are really thick in our part of west Texas this year and it seems that their innards are stickier than usual. Sometimes it just takes a whole lot of elbow grease and persistence to get them off and, unfortunately, I don't think that's particularly good for the paint, either. Anybody find anything else that seems to work on particlurly sticky bug guts?

Cotton

When I get a tough bug, I keep it wet with the cleaner of choice (water with car wash soap, Windex Multi-purpose with Vinegar, or Ice Detailer) and scratch at it with my fingernail. I know it sounds brutal, but a wet fingernail is unlikely to scratch anything, and you can feel when the crud is gone. I have never scratched either paint or windshields with this method, but use it at your own risk. As they say, try it in an inconspicuous spot first.

:agree: In love bug country in the South, Original Bike Spirits is hands-down the best. On sale at Advance Auto Parts for $6.99 or on their website here: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/we...ALUE3-_-VALUE4&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=1770050

Second best in my experience is a Sea Foam product, Bugs B Gone. Available at auto parts stores for a couple bucks. Pic attached...

Most products recommend using microfiber cloth. I use a clean facecloth first for the coarser texture to remove the bugs. Then polish with the microfiber. Bike Spirits is terrific on wheels, BTW.

No one mentioned common hydrogen peroxide. It dissolves bug guts without any after effects.
