Well were back from out trip to San Fran, here is a short run down of the trip.
total millage 5920km in 10 days
coldest temp plus 3 over the mountain pass from Kamloops, BC to Hope,BC
warmest temp plus 44:yikes
very hot for a canuk) from Redding,CA to Spokane,Wa
Our first day was from Sherwood Park,Ab to Kamloops,BC, the next day we made it to Port Angele's, WA, then off to New Port,OR frm there to Fortuna,Ca then we made it to San Fran spent 2 nights there. We traveled down hi way 101 right to hi way 1, we stopped at the Drive Through Tree park took some pics and then drove on quite possibly the craziest road know to man, our friends on their Road Glide never got out of 2nd gear for 62miles it was curve after curve after curve. My arms hurt like hell by the time we got to Fort Bragg I thought great this is finally over not so the road only gets more crazy now you have just as many curves but now throw in 1000ft drop offs down to the ocean and no shoulder. It was awesome cant wait to do it again. The bike ran great and the gps was worth its weight in gold. San Francisco is a great city and the sour dough bread was the best....yes I went all that way for sour dough bread.
When we left San Fran we headed back to Eureka,Ca to the Harley shop our friends needed some clothing and a pair of boots, spent the night there got up early and headed over to hi way 299 from Eureka to Redding,CA that road is amazing with lots of gas stops ans water stops, the scenery was great and the weather was beautiful. This is where out Parking break malfunctioned, it either broke or came disconnected so we stopped at a Dealer in Redding and asked if they could have a look. They told me they were busy and that if they did fix it I would have to pay with my visa then get BRP to reimburse me when we get back home. I was very upset with this and posted on it on FaceBook. We were on a very tight schedule and had no time to wait around to see if maybe they had time to look at it, I used a rock under the tire for 3400km back home. Now our great forum leader Lamont said if I asked he would of helped, I respect Lamont a great deal for his knowledge of this bike but I do have warranty as it is a 2011 rt limited, I would expect for the price I paid you would get help from a dealer not so. Any way again Lamont thanks for your offer but like I said I only have the phone for emergencies and don't have it on ever when on Vacation, I want my peace lol.
We made it to Klammath Falls that night and got up early to head off to Crater Lake National Park what an amazing place, that must have been one hell of an explosion the amount of rock blown off that mountain is unbelievable. It is a place that I think every one should see at least once again amazing. From there we headed over to Bend,OR for lunch and onto to Kennewick,WA this is where we hit the heat from Redding to Spokane was like riding into a blast furnace I don't know how you guys in the south can handle that heat, crazy. We drove up hi way 97 from Redding right to the border of Canada then of to Fernie,BC for the last night in a hotel. We stayed at the Quality Inn for most of our nights it was about 100.00 dollars a night great price clean rooms and breakfast not a bad deal.
The RT Limited was put through its paces on this trip from cold to heat to those crazy curves in California then the high Desert of Oregon. We started off the trip with about 6500km on the bike and we were getting only 200km on a tank, by the end of the trip we were averaging about 320km on a tank I think I finally broke the motor in lol. All in all thr trip went off without a hitch just the break upset me a bit but it was my first long distance ride and we are planing the next one. It will be with the same bike but I will be pulling a trailer and I am getting a custom paint job with this slogan on the back of the trailer that reads...
YES IT'S COOL
NO IT'S NOT A SPACE SHIP
CAN YOU PLEASE LET ME GO SO I CAN RIDE
:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:
Our friends on their Harley could not belive the attention we got on this bike it was crazy, yes i said to them this is what it's like riding with a Space Ship lol. I also relized that the seat is good but I need a better seat I did not make it to the Corbin shop but I will this winter to get a new seat.
