There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. My my my, I am trying to get my new Can Am ST registered. I bought from out of state (Utah) I live in Oregon. First thing was that the front of the Certificate of origin for a vehicle, didn't match the back: Front; "Utah Valley Powersports Provo Ski-Doo Sales, LLc" Back; "Utah Valley Powersports" Now I do realize that they do not match but really? FYI this was a great dealership!

Next... Clerk says "This is not a major manufacturer. I don't know if this vehicle complies with FED regulations (really?), I say there's a dealer down the street, she says, you didn't buy it there? She says bring it in, there should be a sticker on it, I say it's not registered I can't ride it on the street, she says put it on a trailer, I say I don't have a trailer.......

This is getting to be a huge headache! OK I'm done with my rant...... I feel better thanks :)

Be happy you don't live in California. My story is a tear jerker for sure. But I do feel your pain.

California DMV will shame any other state! They really don't want you to bring in out of state vehicles. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

you should have a temp tag that lets you ride for somewhere from 14- 45 days days? Then you can go to local can am dealer and get a vin inspection or just take it to the DMV. Although the people at the DMV are not that Bright on the VIN part IMO.I've BEEN DOWN this road before. Good luck

Hi dg,

Re: I don't know if this vehicle complies with FED regulations

I have lived in Oregon since about 1942 and I thought everyone knew that the DMV gets the bottom of the barrel as far as competent state employees go.

Back in March I bought my Spyder from Southern Califnoria and had not one problem. I did ride it up to the Beaverton DMV office without any registration, etc. If I were you, I would do the same; no, do not ride it clear up here to Beaverton. If you get stopped, just show the LEO your existing paperwork, explain what you are trying to due, and you should be good to go. If not, get in touch with me, my son is an attorney. :) :)

Back in March I also bought a car from Utah and again had not the slightest bit of a problem.

I think you got an exceptionally dufus employee.

Best of luck,

Jerry Baumchen

Well..!!

As you have seen..I live there..and you are getting close. Regardless wish you better luck in your next visit. You might consider a paper pusher and pay them a bit to deal with the dmv...

Hi ThreeWheels,

Re: These are the same people who are now bringing you healthcare.

Do you not know the difference between a state employee & a federal employee?

I am originally from Ca, I escaped, but Oregon is fast on their tail, makes me sad :(

You may not have gone far enough. Disease spreads you know.....

I bought my Spyder in Florida January of 08, as there were no dealerships in Tennessee and Florida was the closest place that had any for sale. That dealership registered my Spyder in Florida, of course, so when I got back home I went to register my Spyder in Tennessee. The lady said 'This vehicle isn't in our books so I cant register it as it's not legal to ride in Tennessee'. The lady next to her said; 'Oh honey, just list it as 'Other' and let the man have his tags'.

That was that and I've been a happy camper ever since.

Oh, and tags here cost $45.00 a year. Whether you have a moped or an F-350 truck... $45.00! Try that in California!

Was the Spyder titled before? Then all DMV wants is the original title. If not, have the Utah dealer file the Oregon paperwork. DMV doesn't want to deal with the common folk.... I bought my 2010 from NH, and had no problems at all.

DMV

OTHER STATES CALL US 'BACKWARDS' HERE IN SOUTH CAROLINA....
HOWEVER, I BOUGHT MY SPYD3R, PAID MY TAXES, GOT MY PLATE (
SPYD3R), WITH SMILES AND CONGRATULATIONS FROM ALL, AND RODE OFF INTO THE SUNSET ALL WITHIN AN HOUR....

YOU MAY WANT TO CONSIDER MOVING TO A LESS '
PROGRESSIVE' STATE....

GOOD LUCK....

It took me 2 hours to trade my rider course completion card for my endorsement. Why?

The color of the card was pink. The clerk had no idea what to do with a pink card. Apparently "reading" is a radical concept.

She had to call to other people to figure out what to do and I'm not at all convinced she got it right.

Good news

Well, different day, different DMV, different clerk, different results; Didn't question anything, all my paperwork was in order, issued new plates and registration, yeah!!!! I just don't know what to say? I'm much happier today, thanks to all the responded to the post, it's nice to know you are not alone in this world :)

It's not "gubmint"! It IS idiots and they work in all sectors! I had to stop and think, a couple of times, how an aggravated assault charge would look on my record when I was at a DMV facility. But the wife and I were both in and out in less than 15 minutes here in Rapid City because a very competent lady knew her stuff! I will concede that any person with a license of any kind has probably wanted to choke someone at one time or another! :gaah: :D
