There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. One of the great mysteries of life. The Battery hold down bracket?!

22 Spyder RTL. I just put in a new NICO LiIon battery. Two of us spent an hour trying to mount the hold down bracket. I even called the dealership and one of the techs could only say it's tricky. First time I opened the battery compartment, whoever installed the battery at the dealership didn't know how either.

I even put back the factory battery and couldn't get it to mount.

Anyone have a clue how to do this??? I'm not thrilled about that thing bouncing around.

Thanks

There's 2 slots at the bend in the bar that the hold down goes into. I had the same issue and when I put in the DRL/turn signal lights and had to remove the frunk to do it, that's when I saw it.

Yes, you speak one of the great truths in life, death, taxes, and the Spyder battery hold down bracket.
As described, there are two slots in a steel member behind the battery that will accept the mounting plate.
The problem is, you can't access those slots with the battery in place,
Here's what works for me, and it's still a PITA,
Mount the battery in place, and then lean it way forward to access the mounting holes.
Install the mounting plate, it should be relatively (RELATIVELY) easy with the battery out of the way.
Tilt the battery holding plate up as far as it will go and hold it up with some painter's tape.
Push the battery in place and remove the tape.
Reinstall the rubber holding band,
Zip zowie and swish, and you're finished.
I've also found that it helps to lubricate the hold down plate with lots of curses and beer, similar to changing out the front left foglight bulb.

As always, my free advice comes with a double your money back guarantee.

Keep us posted so we know how you made out.

It's been a couple years since I had my battery out but I remember putting the bracket in first, tying it up out of the way, and then put the battery in.

Captcharles, why would you change the battery already in a 2022 RTL. Warranty replacement?

Kept getting a C1290 code. Dealer said power problem. Dealer is a 20 hour trip so cheaper to put in a new battery. And wanted to put in a LiIon one.

UtahPete -- just saw your Shorai battery installation. Great pictures, well lit, super depth-of-field.

I use the same battery but rather than bending the rear tangs I straightened the front tangs to avoid the battery terminals. At that point the fit was close enough for me.

Yes, these Spyders are VERY sensitive to the battery voltage.
If it's a new battery, try tightening the connections and see if that helps (DAMHIKT).
And in any event, if you've changed out the battery, again, make sure the connections are tight. You should add a spring washer to prevent theterminals from becoming loose.
About two weeks after the install, go back and retighten the terminals.

Just my opinoin, I could be wrong.

Don't feel bad.......
I went to a Wally World Tire and Battery Dept of the local super store. Bought a new battery for my truck. I had the boat battery just sitting in the battery tray to get to town so I could get a new battery. I handed the battery hold down bolts and top clamp to the genius that brought my new battery out. After about ten minutes, I asked him to move out of the way and I would put the battery hold down bolts in the slots of the tray myself.
