• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Old and Out of State Tickets Can Follow You

I was reading an article in the Mercury News entitled Mr Roadshow which talked about people who previously had a ticket they ignored or forgot about. When it came time to renew their license, the DMV stopped their renewal until the ticket was resolved. The following was a pertinent section of the article.

"Since 2007, federal rules mandate that any driver application must be first checked through the National Driver Registry and the Problem Driver Pointer System. If there is a record of an unpaid ticket from another state or a hold for other reasons, your license cannot be renewed until the ticket is paid or the hold is otherwise resolved. This system was developed to stop drivers from obtaining a driver's license in one state while their driving privilege is suspended in another."

Apparently only the DMV's can access the database. This could be a real problem.

This could be a real problem.

Only for the dishonest that try to hide.

What happened here is our government taking one tool and adapting it later. They developed this program in the 90's to chase after deadbeats that did not pay child-support, and simply expanded it once all the States got on the same page. This same system blossomed into the Amber Alert system as well (The foundation of it).

Sometimes we are forgetful, if this happens many states now allow online renewals as long as no tickets have been recorded since the last Renewal (Or eye wear changes). And because of this... It tells us as soon as we try to renew online that we cannot and must contact a representative to find out why. And or it will tell you and give you the contact information to clear it up.

Time to face reality. All States are sharing a lot of info now.

Oh and it gets worse! About five years ago many States had a big push for the Insurance Industry, and Real Estate Industry to allow for easier access to home information (Like for zones, SQFT, How many baths etc). Some States have gone to far. Like here... I can go to a free Website and see who owns what house, how it is laid out, and what the taxes are, etc etc etc... What a nice thing for our State to allow the Counties to offer thieves...
