• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Oil screen

Can anyone give me some idea of what is involved in cleaning the screen on the oil tank? Can I reach the screen from the bottom when I change the oil? How often are you cleaning the screen?

Thanks

When you have the oil tank drained, remove the clamp on the hose, and unscrew the "nut" on the end of the screen to remove the screen, which is near the bottom of the rear side of the oil tank. Inspect, clean, and dry the screen, then reinsert it. You should have a spare o-ring ready, in case yours is damaged. Be sure and lightly lube the o-ring before installation. Reattach the hose and install a new clamp. The original is an Oetiker clamp, but the correct size worm clamp will probably do fine. The screen should be cleaned at the 600 mile service, and every 12,000 miles or two years.

Scotty,

Thanks, I will get the O ring and clamp before I start.

If you elect to use the original -type Oetiker clamp, they require special crimping pliers. Be sure and get the full contact type, too. A worm clamp of the proper size is easier, although I use the Oetiker clamps

Screen?

Wow, I just learned something new here. I don't think mine was done at 600 mile because the clamp is oem unless the tech guy had the clamp and tool to put it back. My thought is that it wasn't so I will ask on my 12,000 mile inspection. Can't imagine much being in that screen but would like to know what others have found? I have both drain bolts with magnets now from Gold Plug.
