There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. HI ALL,
Im interested if anyone can tell me .Im looking into using the oil for my spyder called AMSOIL. It suggested that I use SAE 10W-40 SYNTHETIC MOTORCYCLE OIL for my 2012 RT ( SM 5 ).im wanting to know ,my warranty is expired but im just looking into how this oil is better than regular synthetic oil .Also what is the difference in the oil that the dealer puts in compared to regular oil and AMS OIL...... Can anyone tell me what they use and the difference in the three oils are.
Thanks
Chuck

There are a hundred threads on oil on this forum including several polls as to who's using what. Amsoil is the 2nd most used oil in the last poll I saw. I use it and have for the last 4 years. The oil dealers use vary from dealer to dealer. My dealer used to use barrel oil for oil changes. The last time I checked, BRP suggested full synthetic for one season and a blend for another season.

Warranty has nothing to do with which oil you use. As long as you use an oil that meets or exceeds the manufacturer's specs it will have no affect on your warranty. This goes for filters and other replacement/service items as well.

The differences in 'Synthetic' and True Synthetic oils has been discussed at length, many times. I hate to bore the masses with another rendition.

Amsoil MCF 10/40 oil has proven to be an excellent option for Spyder owners.

If you have doubts about the quality of a specific brand and how well it holds up, order a test kit from Wix (ebay) or Blackstone (email and they'll send you the test bottle free, you pay about $25 for the test) and send a sample in. I've tested Amsoil, Valvoline, & Castrol, and Amsoil held up better in my RT, Valvoline a close second, Castrol not so good (it needed changing at 2k instead of 4k...but did make for smoother xmsn shifting).

Scores of folks are using BRP oil and never worry about it and theres been no reports I know of about engine probs due to type or quality of oil. Testing is mainly for us folks that get all anal about oils. :D

I got the Amisol oil along with the filters and change kit from Baja Ron.

I will be doing my 4500 mile oil change next weekend!

I am sure i will be a happy camper!
