There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Oil Filter Question

I am in the middle of an overdue oil change on my RT, the first one I"ve done, I had the 600 mile one done by the dealer. Anyway, I get the old filter out and it is sealed on the end that rests against the outside of the housing. I pulled the new one out of the box and it is identical on both ends, a rubber gasketed hole. My assumption is that the dealer gave me the wrong filter, but since I can't call them on a Sunday and hate to leave this thing taken apart for days I thought I'd check here.

Has there been an update to the oil filter or did they give me the wrong one?

TIA

Yep you got the wrong filter.

Happened to me one time also. You for sure have the wrong filter. My suggestion to anyone is to go to BRP site and look up the parts manual and get all the part numbers that you need for the parts you are buying. Don't give the parts person the numbers, just have them handy to double check the parts person.
Want a good price on an oil filter, and get the correct one, contact BajaRon.

Thanks, this is what I figured, I bought 3 filters all the same & all wrong. They sold me part #6741 not 6745. Typical for my luck. Now I have to drive 60+ miles each way to exchange them.

Thanks again.

I "Think" you got a Sea Doo 4Tech Engine filter. I have both and the only difference is the Sea Doo one has a hole on both ends but is identical otherwise!!nojoke

OK, a follow up question. I got the correct filter today, installed it and put the 4 quarts of oil in. Doing the oil level check by the book there is no oil at all on the dipstick. Is this possible, to put the required amount of oil in and still be low???

The book says It takes 4.12 quarts, Believe it or not that .12 might just be enough.
When i change my oil i put 4.5 quarts in . That works for me.:dontknow:

Both oil filters?

I am about to do the oil change on my RT and am confused...( not hard to believe). Does it take replacing two oil filters or just the one?

I would also like to add and it does not matter if you have an rs/gs or rt if you have an se5 model think about changing the tranny filter everytime you change your oil because it's the same oil as your engine uses so why would you leave a dirty filter in with clean oil! THIS IS WHAT I DO PERSONALLY AND I'AM NOT A ROTAX MECHANIC AND BRP SAYS YOU DON'T HAVE TOO UNTIL LATER! But you do have the bike apart anyway so 3 more minutes wont hurt again jmo.

Both filters are to be changed at every oil change, per Technical Service Bulletin 2010-001.
