• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Oatman-video

The first time I was in Oatman was in the mid 80”. It was not the tourist attraction then as it is today. I was on a 1966 Harley on my way home, California, from a trip to the Grand Canyon. I had stopped at a truck stop about 40 miles outside Kingman to have lunch. The placemat on the table was a map of the surrounding area that showed a loop on old Rt 66 that went through an old ghost town, Oatman. I had no idea what to expect. I picked up old Rt 66 outside Kingman off the big road. At the time old Rt 66 was not he best, full of pot holes, speed was slow and air temperature was in the low 100’s. My bike, Rosebud, was running hot, I was hot and it seemed that it took hours to get to Oatman. We came over a hill and there was this small ghost town called Oatman. All I knew was that it was a ghost town that had been brought to life and knew nothing of the wild burros, what a surprise. Stopped for a cold drink and found all the stores had burro food for sale so that you could feed the wild burros. This town has quite a history and if you ever get the opportunity makes the trip you will not be disappointed. Thanks for the video, it brought back many memories.

GREAT video!!!!we have done Route 66 just south of Chicago...not interested in Chicago....to Albuquerque...hoping to do the rest of Route 66....will catch some this summer...I want to do Oatman, AZ...thanks for sharing

Nice video. I was through there a couple of years ago with Irishtothemax on our Rt 66 trip. The thing I remember is those burros would pin you to the wall if they thought you had something to eat. They would follow right into the stores. Neat little town though, kinda stuck out in the middle of nowhere. Makes you wonder how those people survived 150 years ago.

Great Ride To See 16 National Parks -- and Oatman

I don't want to steal this thread but here is an incredible ride visiting 16 National Parks -- including Yellowstone and Glacier -- during the month of July. It includes a visit to Oatman.

Lamonster originally posted this on the SpyderLovers FB page which was where I first read about it. A once in a lifetime trip.
