• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Normal Operating temprature?

I'm in Clearwater Florida where the air temp. has been about 90+ degrees the past few days. I'm worried about the cooling system of my 2012 RT. I know it is liquid cooled and has a coolent holder somewhere under the front cowling/hood. I've asked about this before and was told to be Very Careful Not To Overfill the coolent reservoir. It seemed to me that the level/do not overfill line was just barely a quarter inch from the bottom of the reservoir. My Spyder has been running temp wise about half way up the engine temp gauge from the bottom. It did go up to about seven bars out of ten on the temp gauge in heavy stop & go traffic. Is this normal? Any info/input would be much appreciated! TIA

I find three to four bars (about half way up the temp gauge--digital) is what I run into. Getting stuck in traffic, or slow moving city traffic on a hot day will cause the temperature to visually rise on the gauge.

The cooling fans should kick in as the gauges enter the "red zone."

2014 and above have the new dual cooling fans and do a better job than previous models. The 2012 RT you mentioned does not have any known cooling issues. If the fan kicks in--you should be good. If not--check for blown fuse(s) or have a dealer check it when hot.

Let us know if you have a problem and let us know the outcome. :thumbup:

hahaha I think he meant , scroll down not drill down :roflblack: ! but the water fill area is under the right side panel in the frunk trunk , and it sounds like you have seen this part of it . when I had the skins off my 2012 you get a good look at the water container from the back side of where it is sitting through the body area , and the level side of normal is about 1 or 1 1/2 inches from top if I remember right ... { getting fluid into the fill nozzle is a pain though , I have found a perfect fill nozzle from auto zone , it has a small , flexible pipe , a large fill top with cover , also a off and on twist , whish is very cool too have in this area , also has ounces and cups embossed on the side too show how much you are putting in }

and the cost is an arm and a leg :roflblack: o kay it is only 5.oo dollars , not counting the tax !!! oh so my 2012 r-t runs about 4 bars too 5 , I get nervous at 5 bars , then I hear the fans kick in and I relax again , I haven`t been in stop and go traffic as of yet ,,, so if you fans turn on you should be good

The coolant max level mark is not a quarter inch from the bottom of the reservoir. If it it was you would not be able to see it because it would be blocked by the frame. The minimum level is just visible above the frame. That is about 4 or 5 inches above the bottom of the tank. The max line is above that. See pic.

If your Spyder overheats it will tell you. The coolant temp light will come on and a message will appear on the screen "HI TEMP". If it gets even worse the screen will read "HI TEMP LIMP HOME". I don't think there is any problem here.
